Suzuki GSX1300R Hayabusa Review
Reviewed by Felix
What can I say....I've had mine 3 years now...W reg..
It's comfortable, excellent 2 up...is hellishly fast.....looks aren't to everyone's taste admittedly..
It handles very well....
It is very comfortable for a pillion passenger
It does benefit from a double bubble screen, as the OE screen cuts the dash in half and you can't see any of the dials...
Has a steering damper as standard
Suspension...TBH I don't know enough about suspension to give an honest opinion, however I find that it is "Comfortable" doesn't spit me out of the seat but doesn't feel as if I'm riding a sofa.
It is all day comfortable when your in the saddle.
Fairing gives pretty good protection from the wind and rain......
Headlight is good..much better than my old ZZR600....
It is relatively easy to sort out basic maintenance , the fairings are pretty easy to remove and most of the important bits are easy to get to, Oil filter etc....
If it's caned everywhere it eats tyres , chains and sprockets...
Tyres. I'm running Pilot road 2's, they seem to be wearing well and they give pretty good feedback
Bearings need to be watched carefully...if you go anywhere near them with a jetwash , expect to be replacing them......
The brakes aren't the best and after hard use you do get a lot of brake fade, also the calipers need regular maintenance (This may just be down to the age of the bike itself)
Braided hoses help a little here..and I have replaced the discs and pads as well...
I have also fitted a full R&G crash system to it..replacement fairings are damn expensive...
The power it put's out is phenominal.....3rd gear can see you cruising around town chilling out or hitting triple figures...big triple figures....
It's low to the ground as well, and it's power delivery is very smooth
It does everything..from mental speed machine to a very capable tourer
Motorways are despatched with ease, but it's good on the twistier back roads as well..
Some bad points......(Again a lot of this may just be due to the age of the bike..and the previous owners lack of TLC)
Clutch master slave cylinder can start to leak...fork seals have had to be replaced ,Paintwork is a little thin in places, especially the tank (Baglux tank cover sorts this out)
Oil needs to be checked regularly..as you do..fuel consumption can be shocking if it's ridden flat out.
But as a really capable all rounder , it's a superb bike..................
I would definately have another one
