Safe riding
« on: May 13, 2011, 03:20:23 PM »
Just been looking at Visor Down website & they have a forum topic on safer riding which has had many posts & loads of hits.
Could we introduce this topic?
Good for the inexperienced & also BOBs ( born again bikers ) & SKIs ( spending the kids inheritance )

I know this is my pet subject & can bore to Olympic standard but I am fed up of reading RIP notices .

Not sure Plod would agree with undertaking in the lane 1 on a bike or in a car.?

I get really tired of middle lane morons when I have to cross from lane 1 to lane 3 to overtake and then cross them all again to get back in lane 1.

This was mentioned on bike safe.
When is it filtering and when is it undertaking?
The copper said if you are sat behind a vehicle and give the driver chance to move across and they do not move then you should give a continous three second flash. If the driver still fails to move over after being made aware of your presence then you should move back in to the lane on the left and move with that flow of traffic as to get passed the vehicle safely.
I say just squeeze through between the car and central reservation :rofl I am of course joking... :roll_eyes . Everyone knows you should just use the boot of the vehicle in front as a ramp and overtake using the aerial method :thumbsup

Shirley passing SLOWLY on the left hand side puts you in more danger

if the cunt in the car hasn't seen you before now and moved out of the way, you'll be fucked it they can see you coming up the inside of them. :thumb_down

Just buzz past them as quickly as possible.  by the time they see you and panic/do something stupid you'll be in front and away

It's served me well for years touch wood

Seeing as the thread title is safe riding then surely the best course of action is calmly wait behind the vehicle until he/she pulls over.

wait there until the guy behind rear ends you because he isn't paying attention?
no thanks.

just keep making progress to get out of the way it's the safest choice

Or chances are the idiot driver who isn't paying attention could even jump on their brakes

I used to give a right hand signal to show my intentions of travelling faster when I had the car but don't bother when I'm on the bike. Straight down the inside before the situation even arises.
