I've ridden in France a few times and there is some useful stuff on here.  Some of it is a bit misleading but one important bit is the Yellow Diamond 'Give Way' sign and the one with the black bar through it which tells you that you don't have priority. Watch out for those if you go.

Great roads, and a much more biker aware and biker friendly place than Old Blighty.

Yes the tolls are expensive but the best way to travel on a bike would be ordinary non toll roads anyway. :scooter

I totally agree with ohmistagee if its about the journey? But some ride bike like others drive cars lets get there feet up and drink a bit, then ride home again.  God that's sad to do it that way missing out on all of those little villages, towns, experiences, bends, bends, and more bends. I live in France and even those non-toll roads are great.
Only God can Judge Me

I agree.  As soon as you get off the ferry, get off the motorway. France is full of fantastic roads with no tolls and very little traffic for most of it.

Motorists are also far more biker aware, and biker friendly than our home grown four wheeled talent.

I'm hoping to be going again soon.

Enjoy your trip.
