Charity case
« on: March 01, 2011, 04:15:10 PM »
Now i'm not particularly a hoarder, nor do I chuck away needlessly and I see myself quite responsible when it comes to recycling.... but what are all these collection bags about? I'm happy to wear my 80's flares to death and the mrs can't change her wardrobe too often on the pocket money I give her but someone out there thinks we're flush with ££££££....so far this year (8 weeks)

Was thinking about this earlier today
I must get about 1 a day posted through the door, seriously!  :shocked

The price of distribution is obviously quite low so these 'charities' are jumping on a bandwagon to cash in.

It used to just be the salvation army and Oxfam.

Same here.
Unfortunately a lot of these "charity " bags are for profit making companies who then donate a small proportion to the headline charity.
Take any stuff you want to give directly to your chosen charity.

I did a bad thing .... I saved all the bags up for some months (there was a large amount) ... then placed them inside the very latest bag.. which was collected by the white van man courier yesterday  ...   :roll_eyes  :leaving

It's a real shame that genuine charities who need the proceeds from the bags are being undermined by all of these other people out to make a profit  :censored

Best approach is to give any donation directly to the charity be it money or whatever  :tup2

Also, if you are going to donate using the bags then be careful with kerbside collections as more often than not its thieves that collect the bags before the charity vans! Same with clothes bins, they get raided frequently and always have to be repaired at quite a costly expense!

As has been said, take and charity donations directly to a shop.

if you've got old sh*t hanging about you've been meaning to take to the tip for ages, just fill these bags and someone comes and collects it for free  :thumbsup or it gets stolen prior to collection - either way - saves you the trip   :rofl
