Chin up dood. It wasn't your fault.
I know deisel is a big topic with bikers, but with all due respects, its very rare that I have seen anyone I know, or read about that has come off on it. I've been on bikes for 10 years now, all year, and I've been fortunate to never be in that situation.
You were unlucky mate, and thats it. There was nothing you could do. Hopefully the misses will be ok, and be prepared to give it another go. Although I can imagine how much its put her off, being her first time on the bike.
Good luck anyway..... And drop that solicitor an email. I think he's had pretty good results in the past.

Jenros
So glad you both are ok and walked away from it
Not your fault, accidents happen..... but someone needs to take ownership of the problem
that diesel spill could have caused two fatalities
So both of you should go to A&E to be checked out and arrange for pictures to be taken of your injuries..... and damaged gear!
Go to all the garages near where the accident was and gather info on all lorries that filled up there. Remember, someone is missing a fuel cap!
A bit of detective work is needed and on top of that get hold of the legal firm that Fuzz posted.
All the best young man

sorry to hear about your Off, diesel spill is bloody deadly on the roads. I hope your wife decides to give it another try as it makes the riding experience so much better for you. My wife loves it when we can ride together and is as mad about bikes as I am.

Gutted for you mate, I took my missus out for the first time last night , she too was wearing our sons helmet, we came back in one piece but I think she enjoyed it less than yours did (up until that point).
As stated by many do not let this drop, get some pics of everything, how far from home did it happen? can you go and get some pics now? the diesel stains might still be on the road, have you got the fuel cap? As Phil has said some 2@ brimmed their lorry at a nearby fuel station and drove off without securing it properly and can be prosecuted for causing the spill.
You'll have to pay excess on your claim and your insurance will go up next year so every penny will help. Get your insurance company on the case or the solicitor Fuzzrr suggested.
Good luck and I hope she's happy to have another go, if she was enjoyin it that much she'll be fine after a few miles I'm sure.

What i want to know is why the fuck havent they made self sealing fillers compulsory on large fuel tank vehicles, the wifes renault megane has a spring loaded filler so when you pull out the nozzle it seals itself

Hi Jenros,
Unlucky mate but it could have been a lot worse! I'm glad that you are both ok and can assure you that long term it will work out well for both of you. I sincerely hope that your missus will join you on the bike again,it will be great for both of you.
I had a big "off" some years ago for the same reason - diesel. I wrote my 'blade (Urban Tiger) off 16 days after I bought it from a Honda Centre. Three nights in Hospital and six weeks off work recovering. I claimed everything back on my insurance but didn't take the local authority on, wish I had now though.
Anyway keep your chin up and I hope you get the bike sorted soon.

Hi mate
Glad you and the misses are "ok" . By the sounds of it, it could of been a lot worse. This is why I don't carry one else on my bike but me, just in case anything happens.
Take it easy both................

hi everyone ,
big thank from me and the wife for all your replies,(you just dont get anything like this in any other groups)
Decided to get up thehozzie this morning- 10 2 7 we were there, there had been a bad car accident in raglan at 4 am a youngster had rolled his car,so we were ages.It didnt bother me thou,he was more important than me,just hope hes gonna be ok!.
I got a busted rib after all,,,,painfull, but so what ,we got away very lightly, and the wife is fine.
Anyway, decided to take a run back up there this afternoon( no,not on the bloody bike, the car) you know the safer way as every body tells you when you fall off!!!.
the fire brigade and police went there to do there stuff, late last night(the chap whos house we pulled into told us,he was cutting his grass). He said the police were at the bottom of the corner slowing down the traffic while the brigade were doing there bit.
Theres a LOOOONNNGGG scape of foot peg,and i think it was my stand all across the road,i was really surprised how far we had gone.We stood on the corner for a few minute sand watched the traffic come bollocking around the corner---we were so lucky nothing was on the road at the time.Further on down the bottom of the hill-LEFT HAND BEND again, there were more diesel all over the road, mile on two up the road a big load all over the hard shoulder r/h side again.
MY THEORY-perhaps a vehicle was following him, and as he was going around L/h bends (fuel tank obviously on the right side of the vehicle) the diesel was spewing out. the vehicle was proberly trying to get his attention,he couldnt stop on such narrow roads ,thats why he pulled into the lay by,as he braked to stop more diesel in the tank forced its self forward in motion and more spewed out,,, but thats just my theory!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Back to the brigade gang-now i would have thought this to be just common sence, if your a local fireman turning up to a diesil spill, this is proberly not your first time you have ever did anything like this before!health and safety rules and regs blah blah blah, this is the way we go about this blah blah.
Now your near the top of the hill, diesel spill, left and right bends till you get to the bottom,SURLY you would realise that this is possible that it would have happened on more of the same bends further on!!!!!!!!!!!!! or is it just me having a strop ha ha .
Will they wait for the next accident to happen, coz that may be a fatality---fucking drives hell into me....
Any way, come on aunty carol come an pick my boy up soon, coz i dont want to miss the rest of the summer
YYYYYYEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE HAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
