warning- diesel spill (twat)
« on: July 02, 2010, 11:28:25 PM »
evening guys, hope you all had a good evenings ride-coz i ucking aint!!!
Tock the misses out for the first time tonight, out through usk, raglan, monmouth,up through the forest of dean, into gloucester and on the way back stopped for a coke and a packet of nuts in (think it was the white hart, but might be wrong)the big pub on the left with a big car park and seating outside looking out on the river.
Her in doors was loving it!,so we pushed on to make our way back, got nearly into the village of blakeney, just on the top of the hill, coming to a left hand bend, going about 45-50ish (honest, dont forget it was her first time out on a bike),,,,,,
BANG-before i hit the floor i could smell diesel!!! sliding across the road, down hill, across on to the other side of the road, came to a bump of a stop-front wheel hitting the kerb on the other side of the road.
FUCK!fuck!,wheres my misses???????- shes in front of me,how the fuck did she got there???
My pride & joy is now lying on its side facing down hill on a sharp bend of on coming traffic,i shouted to my misses are you o.k?
she was hobbling down the road, but was ok,i told her to go as far down the bend as possible to warn on coming cars etc.
How the fuck i picked it up i dont know!
free wheeled it into a drive way of a house, when i knew she was ok,but shock up,i went back up the hill and could see the spill all over the outside lane, just before the white lines, the scrapes from my foot pegsand gear lever were about 50 yds long,
M pride n joys fairing is wrecked, mirror, gear lever,
IM GUTTED,not just for my bike but it was her first time out,and proberly now her last.
But know the best bit! 5 yards down from where my bike came to a grinding stop-in the gutter was a lorry filler cap, fucking wring wet with diesel all over the twatting thing!!
got it to start, and limped it home, every fucking bend and roundabout for the next few miles was diesel spills over the road.
Rang gloucester police to tell them,(to fucking late now thou!)
Any way-1 scraped helmet, ripped trousers, jacket sleeves, gloves, cuts and grazes to arms fingers and side of the leg, stiff ribs now(getting stiffer by the 1/2 hour, her in  doors got a lovely bruise on her belly,
SO im bollocking a couple of cans of bow into me as we speak(or type)just to calm my nerves!
 :handjob

Propper gutter mate. Glad you and the Mrs walked away from it, but none the less a real crap way to end up.

Bloody awful stuff diesel on the road  :taz :thumb_down.

When you're ready, i'm sure a few on here can help put your bike back together if you're not fully comp.

Glad your both ok thats whats important the bike can be fixed.

Get yourself a solicitor who specialises on motorbike accidents and claim against the Local Authority. The following is a quote from one of the many solicitors online

"If your motorbike accident can be attributed to any road surface defects including diesel spills, we can claim against the local authority responsible for road maintenance or the person or organisation responsible for the diesel spill on your behalf."

Dont let them get away with it

Inconsiderate fucking tosspots, dont they know yet that diesel spills are a major hazard! Yes they probably do, but as the drivers arent accountable they dont give a flying fuck!

Glad to hear you're ok mate.

thanks phoenix,
i think i read in mcn a while back that a simular thing happened to another bloke,he was told that he could claim of the laocal authority, but apparantly if the spill had been reported previous to the accident you could claim, but would the local authority say that they had had previous reports?? knowing what a bunch of tosspots they are.
the only ones that come to mind are daltons, they always got a ad in mcn,its worth a try thou, cheers.

know wha?
nearly every time a go out i check tyre pressures etc, this time even more checks, even adjusted the suspension settings,i was quite impressed how well it was performing even thou the front felt a liitle lighter.
few weeks ago me and my mate did a bike safe weekend!!!! it was brill.I learned more in the two days than i had in all the years i been riding (even thou the past 6-7 years was off roading)
When i went back up the road and you relive the event in your mind over and over thinking that you did something wrong or should have done this etc.
I have been ABSOLUTLY loving my riding even more since i did that bike safe course,my road positioning has improved emensly,(even if i say so myself),but when i got to the top of that hill and looking down the road at the bend,i  was in a perfect position(lane 3- bike safe method!)with a clear view of the road ahead i could actually see the next bend as i was approaching the bend, you look at the bend, access it and focus on the next corner in front of you,but you could not see the diesel until you were on it.
The annoying thing is,if i was riding to my previous style, tending to be on the left side of the road of a left bend I WOULD HAVE MISSED THE FUCKING SHITE ALTOGEATHER!
misses just gone to bed, shes quite shock up i know, she knows as well as me that the old two letter word appears,,,,,,IF,IF,IF, what if a car,van ,bus or lorry would have been coming around that bend at tha particular moment,we would both have been a pair of gonners!!!!.I`m more pissed off about my misses,on her first time out, that`ll be the endof bikes for her now!

fuck me i cant sleep now.
