The new bike
« on: June 25, 2011, 07:16:44 AM »
Took the Llanelli to Milford Haven & got some strange looks as I was wearing my Hein Gericke Tuareg outfit & carrying a helmet. One guy on the train even asked me if I was going for a ride.
Got picked up at the station by the seller in his brand new BMW X3 ( nice car ). After handing over a wad, which he did not count & signing the paperwork we walked to the garage.
There it was , my new bike, Pan Euro 1300 in silver. I was shown around the controls & I started the engine for the first time. Mmmmm sounded good.
Now I would not advise buying a bike in this way but I trust the seller.
Off I went down the road & it immediately felt right. Out on the open roads & all was quiet behind the electrically adjusted screen, gears clicked into place, looked at the speedo & oops throttle back a bit.
Corner coming up, change down, turn in , open throttle a little to maintain speed , watch the vanishing point receed , open throttle a bit more & oops, watch that speedo again. No dramas & I do like the linked brakes. Must try the abs but not today.
Get it home, into the garage, down comes the rain.
Perfick...... this affair will last.
Dear wife( aka SENIOR MANAGEMENT, I know my place ) takes one look & tells me bikes all look the same to her. Ah! bless & thanks for my new toy.

Bikes don't leak oil',.... they mark their territory :o)           Sometimes it takes a whole tankful of fuel before you can think straight. Growing old is manditory... but growing up...well that my friends...is OPTIONAL!

I understand that feeling you seem to convey there... I've felt it every ride since I bought it 3 week and 1800 miles ago. The st1300 is the bike I wish I'd had from the start.
