South Wales TRF first ride of 2012
« on: January 16, 2012, 09:11:20 AM »
Arrived at Touratech nice and early only to be met with quite a few already there ( i was awoken quite early with a text message from Christian asking if i had spare gloves,it was 5:30, i only live 2mins away and was hoping to get up at 7:30), Nick came and opened up the shop just for us so we could have a nice warm brew to set us up for the day. Quick briefing and we were off . Well except for a few last minute fixings.
As we got to the river crossing and were just about to set off , i could a bike behind us , it was Nick on the behemoth a Yamaha 1200 the guy is a nut  8) (but being an Ex daker finisher on 2 occasions we can let him off)
Nothing major to report en route as everything was going fine right up until just before breakfast stop i had a puncture,  Mark set off and took most of the guys down to sort out some food and a few stayed behind to help sort out my dilema , no need really as we have the king of tyres with us out Mr Green of Paul green tyres Glynneath ,quick as a flash the wheel was off and a new tube in, off we went to catch up with the others and have some nosh.
After we were all fed and watered it was time to get warm again and motel hill was on the list Fair play to those who wanted a go and made it , Nick even tried it on the 1200 but sad to say most did'nt make it and turned around.
Onto the Roman road where the puddles were still frozen and me being in front acting like an icebreaker, Peter then decided that were all going to well and decided to have a break by drowning his Husky 630 in a deep puddle , all sorted and away to go again. Few more lanes including "The view point" " Lampkin lane" and "50 gates" and as time was getting on we headed for home.
A cracking day out which i hope everyone enjoyed and hopefully get another sorted soon .
Here are some pics i took

Bit of maintenance

Lampkin lane

50 gate lane

Another huge thanks to Mark (MWHT) for tail ending and looking after everyone today and to Paul green for trying to get to every gate first ,also thanks to everyone else who made it another good day out for SWTRF

:thumbsup great day out for you all  :clap
Bikes don't leak oil',.... they mark their territory :o)           Sometimes it takes a whole tankful of fuel before you can think straight. Growing old is manditory... but growing up...well that my friends...is OPTIONAL!

That was Nick Plumb, owner of Touratech UK and twice Dakar rider/ finisher, you may also notice Mark riding in on the snotty lanes and doing very well, these big bikes can really go some places, it is all down to the rider and giving it more beans  :tup2
