Rain, Sun & Snow today!
« on: January 02, 2012, 09:31:11 PM »

Got out today and went for a ride with three RoSPA riding pals of mine.  (This is my first attempt at loading a picture - all my photos are in 'the bucket' so lets see what happens).

Stopped at this little Welsh village for a photo.

There were 2 Kawasaki GTR 1400's, a BMW GS 1200 and a Triumph Tiger 1050.  We left Cardiff at half nine and in all covered 200 miles.

We started in the rain, had some Sun in the middle and hit a snow storm over the mountains.  It was a bit chilly around Three Cocks!!!

We did the A470 up to Three Cocks then cut across to Llyswen and took the narrow suspension bridge over the river to take the road which follows the line of the old railway line up to Erwood Station. (Now a Tea Rooms but it was closed).

From there we passed through Hundred House, through Belddfa Forest to the site of The Battle of Pilleth.  This little hamlet is the scene of the battle where Owain Glyndwr defeated an English Invasion of Wales, chasing the invaders back to Worcester. The site of the Battle is marked by a copse of trees on the hillside where the Welsh bowmen were firing down at the English below.

No fighting there today so we continued to the border town of Knighton.  On the border, where half the town is in England and half in Wales. It is the location of The Offas Dyke Centre.

An excellent lunch of Roast Pheasant for me in The Horse & Jockey Pub.

Taking the mountain road over to Llanbister (just North of Llandrindod Wells) and this is where we hit the snow, before heading back south for the lights of the big City.

I hope the picture comes out ok.  If so, I'll put up a couple more of the trip.

Cheers.

Foody ate three raw road kill pheasants before we could find somewhere that cooked them.

Not to worry though, none of them had been dead more than 3 weeks.....

Bikes don't leak oil',.... they mark their territory :o)           Sometimes it takes a whole tankful of fuel before you can think straight. Growing old is manditory... but growing up...well that my friends...is OPTIONAL!
