Plans cut short due to Rain
« on: January 01, 2012, 04:30:24 PM »
Was planning on leaving the house at 11 to go to Llandovery to meet up with a few others. Raining heavy here at 11 so I was sat here in my bike gear praying for it to stop. It finally stopped at 11.25 so I was out on the bike by 11.30. Went to fuel up and headed for Llandovery. Went about 3 miles and I had a few small showers which was fine. When I turned off the A487 and headed for Lampeter the rain became heavier but I thought, no it will be fine, its just a heavy shower  :no another mile and I thought, that's enough so I pulled over and put my water proofs on. I felt as snug as a bug in a rug  :rofl Got to Lampeter and still heavy rain, checked my phone and had a text from Fuzzy to say they were at the cafe in Llandovery which was sent at 12.03 and it was 12.30 when I was in Lampeter, so I decided that it would be another half hour at least by time I got to the cafe so I text to say I'm going back home, so I did. Went back via Newcastle Emlyn along with heavy rain all the way home. And I've found out my left boot has a small slit in it which caused the wet foot and my waterproof gloves are not completely waterproof, but thanks to my one piece waterproof, I was dry and warm. Even though it rained I still enjoyed the ride out. Didn't take any pictures, didn't think anyone would be interested in seeing pictures of rain  :rofl

It just got worse once we left Llandovery , you were wise to go back. Didn't bring my oversuit and got soaked through.

Well done for making the effort in those conditions today. It was messy here from the start so I didn't even consider it. :scooter

Bikes don't leak oil',.... they mark their territory :o)           Sometimes it takes a whole tankful of fuel before you can think straight. Growing old is manditory... but growing up...well that my friends...is OPTIONAL!

at least you got out on da bike !!
sometimes its best to admit defeat and turn around
and you got to test you rain gear

i think the variety of Heinz by Derrick (Hein Gerrike) is good n waterproof (boots)
and they reckon Nikwax is good for waterproofing gloves?

Strangely enough it didn't rain this way until mid afternoon despite it being forecast.

I think your right
.. most injuries are to the feet and legs
.. i found out this year that even a small spill can damage feet badly (with poor quality boots)
most people on here seem to think `u get wot u pay for`
and HG seem to be very good, in my experience.
