Off the beaten track (dam right it was lol)
« on: September 14, 2011, 06:27:28 PM »
Met up with XB9S today in Aberystwyth for a cuppa, we went up Rhyader way and watched the bike race come through.

Then went for another cuppa then headed off to the Elan Valley, fantastic views, then we ended up at Devils bridge for some food. Was asked by XB9S if I liked the off the beaten track sort of roads, and I assumed that those tracks were like the devil stair case, one track secluded places, oh how wrong I was  :rofl Dont ask me where this track was cause I don't particularly know where is was and definitely dont want to visit it again  :rofl It was more of a dirt track, should think it would have been difficult going along there on a tractor   :no  Huge puddles galore, if it was clean water it would be something lol. Anyway we came to a patch of deep farm muck and XB9S had to come to the rescue and push me to make sure the bike got through. oh how exciting  :sweat  Then we came to one huge puddle that was HUGE, noway we could have taken the bikes through, which we had to get to the other side to get to the gate out of there  :sweat so we ended up taking the bikes over a foot bridge  :sweat :sweat This place was near Nant Y Moch for any of you that would like to try it out. Devil Stair case is a doddle compared to it  :rofl I was so glad to get back to civilisation  :thumbsup Then I had a look at my poor bike  :no

And here's the idiot responsible for it  :rofl I told you Chris I'd put this one up  :tt

Anyway I have learnt one thing from all this, I can definitely handle that bike  :thumbsup If it had fallen then I would not have been amused  :tap it came close many times  :thumb_down
But all in all its been an experience and I've thoroughly enjoyed it, thank you Chris for building my confidence up even more  :thumbsup And my sexy Mr Gladius is shining once more  :thumbsup

Perhaps I should have tried that last puddle instead of the foot bridge, it might have washed the bike for me  :rofl
And yes I've had a fantastic day  :thumbsup

As Rhosyn said we had a fab day, this lady knows  how to handle a bike and has an abudance of girl power no doubt there. :tup2

What is a man to do eh when a lady makes a request ,i duly obliged with the off the beaten track suggestion. :scratch :rofl

But it does Seem my internal internal Tom Tom requires a bit of tweaking  :oops as the route was somewhat out synch this time. :roll_eyes
The sense of direction was spot on though and we eventually got back on track. :devil

Had a great day and great company and brilliant to see Tour of Britain going through Cross Gates. :clap

That puddle you have there Red  :tt :tt was nothing compared to what we crossed today and that was on road bikes. :leaving  :rofl :rofl

Hey Rose, if you think Devil's Staircase is a doddle, then you should have tried to walk up it taking photographs like I did today. I now have calf muscles that throb more than a Harley at traffic lights.

Then this bloke with a ruck sack sprinted passed me on his way up... bastid!
Ride a bit, stop, drink tea, ride a bit more.

It's the name of the game, :cheers
Always nice to ride on the roads and have a cuppa here and there, but at times we need to get out of the norm and see where it takes us.
Them days always stick out and we had a such a laugh,i thought she was going to  :tap :tap many times  :rofl

But you were fab Rhosyn and as you said the experience will help.
You could do the Staircase,on just the back wheel, no problem. :thumbsup
