Norway is a blooming long way.
« on: June 17, 2011, 09:02:58 PM »

My first trip abroad and i choose Norway. :roll_eyes
Been meaning to go for some months so Wednesday afternoon decided to go.

Left Mach at 3.00 pm to catch the 23.15 from Harwich to Hoek.
Went down through the heart of Wales to join the M4 at Newport, didn.t fancy the M6-M1 in the afternoon.
Stopped off at the bus station in Abergavenny for a quick cuppa down to Newport along the M4 to London up the North Circular and round the M25 to Harwich.
Bit late getting to the ferry but managed to get on,i didn't book beforehand just turned up.(Not good on fwd planning) :nono  :rofl
Crossing was great and the cabin was nice a bit steep at £125 but worth the money.
Arrived thursday morning at 07.15 and it was chucking it down in Hoek,so not looking fwd to that. :sweat
Getting out of Hoek was a nightmare but eventually got on the motorway.
Made my way up north through Gronningen and over the border to Germany.
It pissed down all day
By the time i got to the hotel i was exhausted and wet through and through.
Not a happy bunny. :no
Hotel was amazing and managed to dry out everything before i set off this morning.
Hotel Wittorf just outside Hamburg a place called Neumunster.
A couple of beers with some german bikers and the day was forgotten.
Will be staying there again on the way back.

Set off this morning with clear skies  :thumbsup made my way to Puttgarden to catch the ferry to Denmark.
Got onboard with some Finnish bikers for the 45 min sail.(You have to strap the bike yourself) :oops
Quick cuppa and went back to the bike and saw some oil on the floor.
Wasn't too bad it was the rear brake cylinder leaking from the banjo bolt switch.
Anyway off the boat and enter Denmark, straight road now up to Copenhagen but no back brake.
Not a problem in the dry but i used it a lot yesterday.
Got to Copenhagen and over the Oresund bridge, pretty amazing journey and hold on tight.
Got to Malmo and found a local Harley dealer to get a new Banjo, they were very helpfull and helped me with the bleeding. :tup2
Staying in Lund tonight and heading up the middle of Sweden tomorrow.
Travelled a 1000 miles the last 3 days so going to take it a little easier over the weekend.
Some pics from today.

Still rolling along and bike is going great after 2000 miles.
I've reached as far north as i'm going in Sweden, cutting across tomorrow to Norway and hope to reach Bodo by the end of the day.

Anyway last 2 days has been really nice weather and enjoying every moment.

Yesterday i made my way up to Sater from Lund, followed mainly the main roads but got lost at one point and found myself on route 51 between Orebro and Finspan, truly amazing road, best i've been on. :thumbsup
Got to Sater at around 8 pm in time for the barbecue at my cousins house.

Took off this morning and decided to take some smaller routes, all started well until i ran out of roads :scratch, not a good idea,i was down to 10 mph for 10 km at times.
All the tarmac was missing, bit scared of a puncture and in the middle of nowhere.
I only have one puncture kit so hoping i don't need it.
Got through unscathed and carried on up to Lycksele where i'm staying tonight.
That's it for now.
Here some pics from today.
