New Forest
« on: September 12, 2011, 09:45:34 PM »
Had some holidays to use up before I end up loosing them so I wanted to go to visit the New Forest. Was to wet on Saturday so I chickened out, nearly went by car but glad I didn't. I left on Sunday Morning and  went straight to my B&B at Landford, just off the A36, did have a few stops on the way for a stretch. Got to the B&B and realised I had no internet signal on the phone (pissed off or what lol) plus even the phone signal was very poor  :thumb_down

Woke up this morning (Monday morning) to rain. By the time I had breakfast the rain had passed over. I headed further down south to have a look at Sammy Miller's Museum. Took loads of pictures and was really pleased I decided to go.

From the Museum I headed home. I hadn't had my sat nav back in time to go on this trip so I had to use the AA map and my head, not a good way to take a few days away further than 20 miles from home  :rofl  But I impressed myself, went through Salisbury and Warminster and Bath and not once got myself lost, (impressed indeed)

When I got back on to the M4, my god, I didn't know what was happening, the wind was horrendous, I couldn't manage more than 65mph most of the time, plus I had had to hold on to dear life, signs said that the M48 bridge was closed for lorries and bikes, so I was very surprised to see the Severn bridge open, was glad to get to the otherside and on to Margam services. Met 2 lads there who also said it was really scary. Anyway I thought, no way am I going any further on the motorway so I went off junction 25a and headed for Abergavenny and called in there for a coffee then headed for home. Did a detour to my son's house in St Dogmaels first and gave Mr Gladius a good wash and he is now all sexy and clean again  :rofl so after 522 miles its Home Sweet Home, until the next one  :scratch

I came back over the bridge about 3ish and yes the wind was horrendous, but had sunshine all day apart from when I got up in the morning. I was on my own so if you saw a black bike and a rider with a grey/black jacket then you should have hooted your horn  :rofl

Yes and you didn't have to pay a toll either. They still charge bikes to cross the Cleddau.

Bikes don't leak oil',.... they mark their territory :o)           Sometimes it takes a whole tankful of fuel before you can think straight. Growing old is manditory... but growing up...well that my friends...is OPTIONAL!
