My daughters first time as pillion
« on: June 28, 2010, 10:07:18 PM »
This weekend my kids were over, and seeing as my eldest was being too cool to be seen with his old man and spending the day at  a pals birthday party, I thought it would be an excellent opportunity to give my youngest - Georgia a go on the bike.

So, after kitting her out in some bike kit, and giving her a quick lesson on 'how to pilllion' we set off for a gentle run. Decided we'd head up the A4067, cut across the lanes from Cray to Senny cafe (lunch stop)

Route

Jo was doing ok bringing up the rear on her 125  :scooter

After food, Georgia said she was enjoying herself, and  prefered the lanes to the main road, so I decided to head back to the lanes and head on over to Usk reservoir. Was real nice although the lanes around the res were more like 3rd world tracks than roads  :eek

Some pics....

After that, it was lanes all the way to the black mountain, and of course an ice cream at the top  :feeding

We did enconter a few miles of 'redressed' road  - it was like riding on marbles, but Georgia was cool with it and Jo took it in her stride   :thumb_up

Back home via Pontardawe for cake and medals!!

One happy 12 year old and I got my two wheel fix for the weekend - result!!

Yes mate, she had a great time - having my youngest on the back made me the safest (read slowest) rider ever!!!  :scooter

Oh I'm gonna have hell when my lad gets a bit older. He's only 5 but trying so hard to stretch his legs to the the pegs. Got a little way to go yet but the big problem will be his mum. No way is she gonna let him out on the bike

My boy is 8 too and he loves going on the back, got a bargain set of textiles off ebay for him and we splashed out and bought a helmet too (better had!). I never go too far just in case he gets tired and I ride like I'm doing my test when he's with me but he loves it.
