mini wales tour
« on: August 31, 2010, 09:53:38 AM »
no pics before you all start i dont do photo's lol

day 1

started off at crossgates, the whole point of the w/e was to avoid main roads keep the speeds down and do the scenic route wherever possible, we set off over to rhayader then up over the top to st harmon and llanidloes, from there we set off over the top past clywedog dams, some lovely roads over there if a bit gravely at times.

cut across from there heading for mach then took a short cut to get across towards corris, had to got the main route then all the way up the a470 towards prthmadog, then cut up and did a loop heading towards caenarfon and basically going around snowdon, stopped for lunch at the cafe on top of llanberris before heading off back to base camp, decided to do the coastal route heading back going through harlech and barmouth then on towards fairnbourne and aberdovey, before heading for our o/n in ynyslas. total mileage day 1 220 miles

day 2

steady start after a heavy night, leaving bow street heading for devils bridge, scenic route over the mountain road to the visitors centre, then did the worst road ever, it was supposed to be a shortcut over a gated road, ended up getting lost and over some of the worst roads i've ever ridden, never again. back on the main road heading for newbrigde tehn onto beulah (love this road) and went over the devils staircase and onto lyn brianne, stopped for a breake before heading onto llandovery and the west end cafe.

had a cracking w/e ride with some mates, weather held off and sunday was a scorching day, it wasnt the fastest of rideouts but it was never meant to be just about having a rid with some mates.

took the long way home via brecon to llandrindod and cover around 400 miles in total.

hope to do something similar before summer ends

sometimes nice to take it steady and spread the ride out over 2 days  :tup2

When you do slow down you notice some of the lovely scenery there is pretty much everywhere especially around Llyn Brianne

you know its nice to scratch but even nicer to take it easy and tour a bit, and on quite a few of those roads, you cant speed anyway lol
