I used to do panic braking for years feathering the rear brake into corners.

Then a bit of advice from a mate and I stopped doing it doesn't really make a difference.

Keep the balls of your feet on the pegs and it'll keep them away from the brakes  :tup2

:i_agree my balls of my feet are on my pegs, ever since i went out with bigj and ed, had a few pointers here and there, and not been using the brake ever since
Jason Palmer - BIGJ - you are already greatly missed, RIP friend.

Also target fixation is an absolute bastard and can only be beaten with loads of practice.

Even with lots of experience it still catches people out.  Namely me, on Monday  :eek

I was riding Wedges' CBF for a bit and the bastard of a right hander about 5 minutes after leaving Crossgates.
There are loads of warning signs etc but I was still going too quick into it on an unfamiliar bike.  Ended up fixated on the hedge and very nearly went into it  :oops
Only takes a second of panic thinking

"Fuck i'm going into this too quick"

In reality it's very unlikely you're actually going too fast for the bend and if you keep leaning, and looking where you want to go the bike will make the corner no problem
