Ducati Day Out

Went to Abergele today to test ride the new Ducati Diavel at Woods.
Up the A470 to Ffestiniog stopped off at Tanygrisiau Power Station cafe for a quick lunch, great food and very cheap.
Headed for Llanrwst turned off on to A458 to Abergele.
Great road this loads of corners, keeps you on your toes all the way to the coast.
Watch out for tractors and mud on the road, lot of Agriculture activity.

Arrived Woods at one, quick info on the bike and insurance form and i was ready to go.
All you need is both parts of licence, they are very friendly bunch and very keen to help.

Vroom vroom up twds Llansanan loads of bends and a lots of power.
Three power modes to choose from Urban Touring and Sports,Woods set it to Urban before i left, first lay by and i change to sports  :devil
Anyway I'm no test rider, only ridden a handful of bikes,so advice from me means nothing, anyway took it easy for the first few miles, first thing i noticed was the smooth gear change, very nice and great brakes ABS.
After i got more confidence i quickened up a bit and went in to a corner and the back end started skipping   o shit  ,didn't like that at all so eased off again.
Back to Woods in one piece and a smile on my face.
Overall i was impressed with the bike and would love to have another go,but i don't think i will be buying one yet, didn't see myself enjoying it as much as the Buell.

Back on the road again and over to Denbigh, stopped off at A&D Motorcycles just popped in for a new visor for my old Shoei, walked out with a bloomin new lid  :scratch
Good salesman that man, fair play though 20% discount and threw in a tinted pinlock as well.
I've bought most of my gear there the past year and they are very customer friendly.

Highly recommended  :tup2

Over the Denbigh Moors, quick paned at Betws and back to Mach.
Well only just,i was going down Tal y Llyn pass and some fwkin landrover tried his best to kill me,i pulled out to overatake on a slight right bend, just before i pass, :handjob decides to cut the corner and not just cut but filled the whole right lane, nowhere to go so had to put on the anchors.
I did however half an inkling he was going to do it so was holding back a bit,i think it is similar to rabbit in a headlight moment bit hard to explain or maybe he was just trying to kill me ?
Quick exchange of friendly gestures and i'm on my way.
Didn't fancy kicking his mirrors, thought it would hurt a bit  :rofl
Back in Mach in one piece.
Only pics of the Bike today.

It was very weird to begin with especially turning corners, didn't feel like a bike at all.
Bar's are very high up and the seat is vey low down.
It's very different but worth a go.
Enjoy. :tup2

Nice one yet again from you! Bike looks very Sci Fi, like something from Death Race 2000! Huge BHP output in Sports mode in the wrong hands could cause a few mad moments. Strange one this coming from Ducati, don't know if it will take off here, its the
sort of bike that has been designed for the North American market.
It's not cheap either, £12-£14k, there is a lot of other bikes out there I would like to own
before buying one of these.
See you soon, at Aber, don't work too hard on those offshore rigs, Rob.
P.S. Nice report and Pics.

Bikes don't leak oil',.... they mark their territory :o)           Sometimes it takes a whole tankful of fuel before you can think straight. Growing old is manditory... but growing up...well that my friends...is OPTIONAL!

once again top work on the report & pics, makes it worth reading have nice pics to view as always  :tup2

I took the Diavel out this morning, I can't stop thinking about it.  What a machine, loved every minute of it.
A so called cruiser shouldn't be that quick!  it corners half well too  :tup2

When you consider a Yamaha V-Max (the only real competitor) is £19,995 then £13k for the Diavel isn't too bad at all.
The engine makes it

It seems like Ducati are struggling to meet the demand for these! They're obviously proving popular!!

Did another Ducati day out today. :zzz
This time it was the new Monster EVO 1100. :devil

Started off this morning and headed for Llanidloes,to test my new injectors. :thumbsup
Stopped off at the Riverside Cafe,2 miles outside Llanidloes. for some grub and then headed towards Dolgellau via Caersws.

Made my way to Bala and a quick pitstop at the Lake side.
Next stop was Brenig visitor centre for a cuppa,i really like this stop, very peacefull and a great coffee for £1.60.
Paid blooming 6 Euros for a cuppa last week on the ferry. :roll_eyes
Anyway back on the road and made my way towards Bylchau, turned down towards Llansanan and through to Abergele.

Landed at Woods Abergele, bike was ready to be taken out, quick signing on and away i go.
First impression a lot of power, well compared to the Buell that is. :surrender.
The brakes ABS were marvelous, fandabidosi, wish i had brakes half as good.
Carried on for a few miles but quickly recognised it wasn't the bike for me,felt a little stretched and i would quickly get tired of the riding position, handling was nice though.

So overall a very nice bike, but a lot of money at around £9000,and there is no luggage option for it.

Bike back to Woods and on the road again.
Took the back road to Llanrwst and headed for Betws y Coed.
Stopped for a cuppa and had a quick chat with some bikers, one biker was on a 4 year old Royal Enfield, looked more like 40 to be honest. :oops :rofl
And then back home to Mach.
