Bit of a blast...

Had a text from my Bulgarian friend asking if I wanted to go for a spin.

I met her at the industrial estate just off the M48 by Chepstow (she was coming from Newbury) where I quickly decided to become a knob and demonstrate my knee down prowess... needless to say Lana was suitably impressed...   

We took the B4293 from Chepstow towards Monmouth - fairplay, cracking road!

Headed north out of Monmouth toward Hereford and turned left onto th B4521 toward Skenfrith and Abergavenny.  Excellent bit of road, normally.  Except it seems the council has been around with the tar and chippings brigade within the last week, and so about half of the road was spent at 30mph trying to keep the bike upright on what felt like marbles... 

Stopped at the bus stop in Abergavenny for a quick cuppa, but we ended up chatting for the best part of 2 hours.  Was intending on nipping up to Terry's for a burger, but was too late by this time.

Lana didn't want to take the M4 back to Newbury (who can blame her), so I devised a cunning plan where we would take the B4246 from Llanfoist up over the Keepers and down into Blaenavon.  Carried on through to Pontypool and then toward Usk.  Took the B4235 out of Usk back toward Chepstow from where we headed North on the A466 through Tintern toward Monmouth.  Parted ways at Monmouth with Lana heading East toward Gloucester and then home.

At this time it was 7 o'clock, and I was supposed to be meeting a mate in Pontypool for a pint and a catchup at 7.  Finally got there at 20 past 7.

Didn't take any pictures unfortunately, but was a cracking day out!
