yoyo, i agree the trick is not to drop and at the same time reduce cost of insuring :-)

fuzzrr, yes - need to go through the british licencing process. anyway i guess 1200cc might be a bit too expensive to maintain.... but wouldn't mind if its much cheaper than the others i am looking at :-)
your opinion on the Yamaha xj600s are not so great on quality compared to bandits and suzuki <???>

I have never owned a Yam, but I just see the Honda as a far superior bike as build quality is concerned. They always seem to last longer without looking tatty.  The 1200 would not be any more coslty to run than the 600 tbh. Tyre life may be an issue if your going to be hooning it, but your not going to be doing that.

i am only quick to reach speed limits, and nothing more than that. that too only when i feel like it, normal commuting ride at traffic flow rate without much filtering or cutting between lanes :-)

i owned a yamaha 100c bike, a nice one... does on average 55 - 60 kpl.... if you maintain a steady 40mph even higher than that... and tended to be much smoother when changing gear as well as comfortable than same range honda!!! yamaha is known for tuning engines.... they also tune car engines as well, i guess some of the toyota lower end vehicles like vios were tuned by yamaha if i am not mistaken.

sorry just ranting about my old bike. but the link i provided and the yam i was talking about are in different range....

anyway I was planning on having a look at the bike today and if I liked it thought of giving you a shout to check out the bike with me next weekend... unfortunately I couldnt check the bike out today. :-( so another week of delay at least!!
thanks for the inputs, without which people like me would find choosing a used bike very daunting
