new full bike licence.....question ?
« on: May 28, 2011, 08:08:28 AM »
hi all.......anyone know for sure......

a mate of mine , morph, has just passed his mod 2 ,and is now the proud rider of a restricted drz 400..(cost the poor bugger over 230 quid to have a flat washer fitted between the carb and head !!)....
anyway, back to the point, morph is concerned he may be under the same "6 points and your out !!" ruling that effects new licence holders for the first 2 years.....although he has held a car licence for over 25 years......i know ..i took my time getting him over to the dark side!!!!.......but he's here with us now !...
well ? any know if he has to be a specially good boy ?.....before anyone pipes up with ......"he should be sticking to the limits, especially as a new rider".....we know this, but....."let he who is without sin cast the first stone".......(not a bible basher , just thought it was apt to "head off" the goody two shoes brigade)...

welcome your positive opinions

cheers

If you have just passed your first driving test, the New Drivers Act means you’re ‘on probation’ for two years. If you reach six or more penalty points in that time, you’ll lose your licence. Then, you’ll have to apply and pay for a new provisional licence. This means you’ll be a learner driver again

I was told as its not my first test I would be ok  :scratch :scratch

It does say on that link
"If you have held a full driving licence for two years, the Act doesn’t apply. For example, there isn’t another probation period if you already have a full car licence and pass a test in another category, like lorry. But you need to have passed both tests in one of the countries listed above."

So doesn't that say that if you already have say a car license and have held it over two years then this probation period doesn't exist on any new licenses that you gain ie your mates new bike license.
