Motorcycle Training in Wales
« on: June 01, 2011, 09:21:30 PM »
I read somewhere that motorcycle training in Wales is of a poorer standard than in England

I can't see why as all motorcycle training companies train from the same book

What do you all think?

Misread that then, Motorcycle Training Wales is where I did my training!! I have to admit it's a tough call as most of us only train once so it'll be hard to judge.

I did my CBT in JT's in Swansea and the trainer was a nice guy but was more concerned about stopping for a fag than anything else!

I did my DAS with MTW and hard a lesson with a shit crap instructor (who they got rid of not long after) and had some fantastic training with a couple of coppers. Passing both Mod 1 and 2 with no effort at all, also taught a bit of roadcraft not just how to pass your test.

Stu 2wheel is well respected and has an excellent pass rate.

It's a tough call, different people respond in different ways, what suits you for training might not suit me.

End of ramble!

I can't believe that it would be any better or worse in Wales compared to england. Aren't we all assessed in the same way, which means we all need to be taught the same things?

Now this is what I thought but if you think about it for a while it makes sense

Like who ever taught driver that turning right at a roundabout in the left hand lane while indicating right is OK :scratch

There are loads of drivers that do it so were they taught it?

NO, just like they are not taught to use a mobile phone , not to be a lane hogger , to use mirrors properly, not to park on places that would cause an obstruction, the list is endless,
where did you read the thing about poorer training?

is that "can " or "can't"
you have only got to read some of the posts on this forum to realise that people do fall into bad habits quite easily.
and of course  there are people who have learned driving without a profesional instructor

The Mod 2 pass rate for bike tests in Merthyr is well above the national average. Merthyr is in Wales isn't it?

Yes but if you go by DSA stats then all the test centres in the uk are above average.

That just doesn't add up?

i totaly agree with you Stig, very stupid to teach that way as it is too inflexable and yes i do know a school that does it that way as its easier than teaching some one how to be flexable and to ride a bike not a test route
its funny until some one gets hurt, then its Hilarius
