Why...
« on: July 23, 2010, 10:09:28 PM »
On my way down to Chepstow today to meet a friend for a ride.  On the B road between Usk and Chepstow, really quiet traffic wise, hardly a car in sight.  Eventually I catch up to a geezer on a 59plate blade.  I'm behind this guy for aages.  He guns it down the straights, the slams on the anchors for every single corner and just totally ruins my lines.  I just didn't have enough power to pass him, unless I did something naughty in a corner, which I didn't want to do

Few miles later, I see him give a glance in his mirror and then he takes off like a bat out of hell.  So I think that he's finally fucked off and I can get on with that I was doing.

Next cluster of corners, I catch right back up to him  :taz  This carries on then till the end of the road.

I know if I see a faster bike come up behind I let em pass, why do people act like dicks? :E

No offence intended but it’s an old refrain, ‘I was quicker through the corners but his bike was faster than mine on the straight’
If you are that much quicker, passing them in the corners ought to be relatively easy and safe. Once you’ve gone past a few times, they start to think you just might be the loony that their mum warned them about and leave you to it.
If you believe that load of old bollocks..........

While I agree with you in principle, I think in this case there are 3 factors working against me.

The major thing, and I'm not afraid to admit it, is that my relative inexperience on the bike prevents me being comfortable fucking about mid corner like that.  The power difference is so huge (CBF6 vs 09 Blade, prolly at least double the power at the wheel) meant that I wasn't anywhere near close enough to line him up on the approach to the corner, just kept running up behind him mid corner.  And the last bit of that road is twisty as feck and pretty much every corner is a blind one lined with hedges.

Excuses aside, doesn't detract from him being a twat :tt

You'll notice this the more time you spend out on the main biking roads especially on sunny Sundays that the majority of people just can't take corners  :no

to some degree, i agree with bendintheroad, and passing the biker who like me likes straight lines shouldnt have been too much hard work.

On the other hand, if i was in your position wedgy, i too would have probably not been able to overtake. I sometimes find it difficult to overtake a less powerfull bike who is giving me a run for my money, so doing the same with a bike more powerfull would be a challenge, one i probably think best to avoid.

I wasn’t suggesting any mad overtakes or chance taking but if you are consistently running up to someone’s back wheel mid-corner, you are in danger of making contact or getting run off the road if they slow right up or start fucking about. Therefore, it is actually safer to get past as soon as. Of course the other option is to back off and let them get a fair bit away.

Dood its the oldest syndrome in the book, his balls are bigger than yours and there is no way he is gonna let you overtake him, just bask easy in the knowledg that your not a straight line warrior and that you dont shit your pants every time a corner comes your way.
When your riding a Thou, you wont have to worry about that situation any more.

What a  :handjob

i always give way to faster riders. after a few seconds you can tell if someone is a more competent rider than yourself and it's no hardship to just egde over a little, like to think i always do this.

Although, riding through bristol dock area the other day (at the 40mph speed limit) some cock, and thats the best discription, tried undertaking me on his 125 as i moved out for my sightline through a left hand bend!  :shocked what a cock!!
