Um, just sayin', the guy on the bike with the speed gun is a civvy, paid by the Welsh Assembly. He happens to be a retired Inspector from London but that's a happenchance. One of the other guys on the SCP happens to be an ex taxi driver. There are no cops on the Safety Camera Partnership (if that's what they are called this week).

The other crews sounds as if they could be the ANPR intercept team, they frequently have recovery trucks out ready as it cuts down on the waste turn-around time.

The female police officer that was the driver of the police car was holding the speed gun and the male proper police officer was on the bike as support or training her :)
I was in the wetherspoons working at the time they were there and the staff there know them both as its a regular occurence but they're usually on the other side of the bridge stood in the gateway of the church, well the bike officer is anyhow as ive seen him a few times when ive passed there.

I saw them there yesterday, too. I was in the Land Rover at the time, so not worried about my speed(!) ... Hard pushed to exceed 30  :cool
Why are they there? That particular stretch of road is difficult anyway with lane swappers etc, so added distraction in the form of plod (or out-of-area ex-plod if LH is right) just adds to the danger. It's time they pursued phone-wielding cretins in white vans and taxis, and left traffic alone to flow smoothly!  :taz

i agree people on mobiles and some taxi drivers but some of you every day drivers need to be shot the way you drive like stupid tarts in the morning doing there make up whilst driving the idiot cutting people up because they haven't checked there blind spot and complete tosser bikers thinking there god on 2 wheels. ive been driving for 18 years and ive been on the road all day every day ive been a taxi driver for the last 7 years and a biker for 5 years and have always had a clean licence i would like to see how many daily commuters can say that. also is it just taxi drivers and white van men the only people you've had an issue with on the road whilst you've been on your bike??? i don't think so. THINK BEFORE YOU COMMENT

That flyover bit is well known for students walking out in traffic at least it was when I was at uni there.

I'm all for speed cameras tbh. Not saying I don't speed, but I take my chances if I get caught I'm going to have to suck it up and take the punishment.

Gabalfa flyover is right to be a 30 too, imo. you've got merging traffic, wandering students, lots of entrances and side roads, just before it you have a freaking pub in the middle of the road.

No Robert, there are plenty of others. BUT....Taxi drivers and white-van drivers are "professional" drivers, and as such should be setting an example. Unfortunately, I see too many of these types using phones, pulling out without looking, etc. I can think of no reason why anyone should use a phone while driving - no phone call is that important ....... and proper hands-free kit is easily and cheaply available.
Don't get me started on BMW (and Merc) drivers !

When people go on about "bikers" do this or "bikers" do that.... And we are all tarred with the same brush, it gets right up our noses.

Yet here we are doing the same, in the last couple of posts we've slagged off, "the Police" "car drivers", "taxi drivers", "white van drivers" and dont get started on "BMW drivers" or "mercedes drivers"' and even "students".

Well said to Snoopy, there's good and bad in each of us.

Anyway those speed cameras and speed guns are rubbish any way.  They don't work most of he time.  I mean, they only go off when a speeding motorist is approaching.

You don't need to be a "professional driver" to set a good example.

But I'm going to finish now, by slagging off people who slag off other people in forum posts.......

Oh dear.... Look there.  I'm doing it myself.  So I'm not perfect. ( just like the rest of you)!

Well said Snoops!
