Organised Swansea Bike Thefts
« on: May 15, 2011, 05:06:57 PM »
Hi all,

I'm away at uni at the moment so I've been out of the loop at home so this might be old news, however:

The fuzz turned up to where the girlfriend works the other day asking to see one of the guys there about his bike. Turns out they were asking him to move it somewhere more conspicuous and to secure it properly because there's been a gang going around with lifting equipment and a lorry recently just taking bikes off the street!

Apparently the c***s have been targeting bikes to order, following the owners around for a while to check out their security, then pinching their bike. It seems to be sports bikes they've been nicking for the most part but if its to order then everyone could be a target. I was just wondering if anyone knew anything more about it? If I caught someone trying to steal my machine they'd be getting a right bloody :tap

Just keep an eye out and make sure your bikes are nailed down when you're not around  :tup2

As it happend I had a random dude on a big vtwin - think a Tuona - come into my cul-de-sac this afternoon, do a u turn and head off whilst I was parking up the Tiger.... now Its a very small street I live on and I've never seen this dude before.

I did wonder if I was being cased or if he just made a wrong turn.  :tap

It's that sort of thing that would start making me paranoid :S Might have been a wrong turn but it makes you wonder. Just glad I've got a fairly industrial security chain.

Good to see some pro-active police work there. With any luck they may even bring them to book and they will get their community service orders handed out to them       :hang em I say!

Happend to me a few years ago ,had an R1 and a crf 450 . Luckily enough a neighbour had gone out for a fag late one night after he had finished work and spotted 3 guys ,one keeping watch and the other two going up to check out my bikes ,when they spotted my neighbour they just walked calmly away ,he rang the police who just happened to be quite near at the time .
I knew nothing about it until getting home from work the day after and had a phone call of the police ,they were a well know gang (brothers) in Swansea ,they had stopped the van which had all the gear from geeint chains and locks off including burning ,freezing and cutting gear all laid out in the van ,they didn't arrest them or anything as they didn't have any bikes in the back at the time and were building a point system up on them for tougher sentencing (full of shit ) .
I was told by the copper that rang me that they were paying Taxi drivers for information on bikes locations as bikers were getting harder to find .
I just wish i had caught the little feckers ,lots of big fields and woods near me  :roll_eyes

Glad to hear they didn't get anything  :thumbsup Apparently the bikes being stolen recently might be being shipped out of the country :S Quite a big operation by the sounds of it. Although if it is that big fuck knows why they haven't caught them yet.
