Biker down - Oil spill - Info requested
« on: July 25, 2011, 03:48:43 PM »
So some of the lads went for a ride out to the Elan Valley yesterday. On the way home they pulled into to use the rest area just after the storey arms on the A470, one of the lads went past and pulled into a lay by opposite the llyn on reservoir, as he pulled in he hit a large patch of oil and came of the bike. He suffered only minor cuts and bruises however there was at least a grands worth of damage done to the bike. Was just wondering if anyone saw a large transit or wagon that could of lost that amount of oil in the area yesterday and has any details of the vehicle. The matter was reported to the police and the fire service was called out to clean up the oil.

If it is the Llyn Onn layby with the Burger van in, it might be worth speaking to Colin, who runs it.  Lots of his customers are regulars so he may know.

Apparently the layby where my mate had his off is about half a mile further up the road from the one with the burger van in and is about 100 yards before the layby that usually has the camera van in just before the Aberdare turn off if your heading towards cardiff.

Ok as I was not on the ride out myself this information is being passed on from someone who was as to the whereabouts of the layby the latest info he gave me is as follows:

Heading for Cardiff the layby is on the left on the A470, about 500 yards before the A4059 Aberdare turn off.

That van must have a serious oil leak, " hopefully".. and they should be made countable for this could have been a lot worse too.

Better chain of thinking than one I've applied for to long.  I always thought,  'I'm free to fix on the NHS, what about my bike?'  Well untill I decided to stop hurting myself because it was starting to take longer to recover.  (I ride offroad too).
Yes, everyone else maybe melting to death on the roads but not us! Because we have a car with hair conditioner! I mean what in the name of sanity did they think we want it for? To make sure that the roof rack is more shiny and managable?
