Tire valve extension adaptors
« on: June 13, 2011, 11:51:23 PM »
I only recently discovered that I could not use the standard petrol station tyre inflators to pump up the tyres on the GTR1400 . Try as I might I couldn't get the  inflator at the right angle to fit onto the valve. There's bound to be loads of bikes that have the same "feature" but I never come across it in 8 previous bikes.  Luckily I was not desparate but I found these adaptors on ebay that work a treat .

Yes they are a good idea, BUT DON'T leave them on, because they are quite heavy they put a lot of force on the valve and could damage it. Keep them on the bike somewhere, I left mine on and saw the results.

Yes you're right mate forgot to mention that, they are only to be used at the time you are inflating the tyre then removed.
You can get the permanent 90 degree valve replacements so I will be getting these installed the next time I replace the tyres.

I know you can get longer stem valves for the cars, so couldn't you get those fitted.?

To be honest mate I don't think longer valves will help. More likely they will be even harder to get at. No, I think the 90 degree valves is the way to go
