CHEAPEST PLACE FOR MICHELIN TYRES ONLINE?????????
« on: March 09, 2011, 12:47:35 AM »
Antone know of the cheapest places online for Michys?? other than the google searches. :scratch :scratch

Not only do the government see fit to fuck my wallet to high heaven with fuel prices. Tyre manufacturers also seem to think its now the 'norm' to be charging £230 a set before fitting!!!  :surrender :surrender

At this fookin rate I'm gonna have to start pimping my fookin lodger out!!!  :sma

All jokes aside though. I earn a good wage, and can normally get a load of miles done on the bike over the spring and summer months. But at this rate, the words I have never said before are soon approaching. Its getting to the point where I just cant afford it all the time anymore!!!! :surrender :surrender

Pilot Road 3's from Round and Black are £219 +p&p. Power Pure's £218.

Tyres are getting more expensive (I suppose they are derived from oil) and Michelins have never been cheap either IMO. You'll struggle to get a set of the newer tyres fitted locally for less than £300 I reckon. Certainly seems to be the going rate my mates are paying.

Yeah thats the sort of sums I was getting. But I only pay £20 fitting as I do most of the work myself so looking at it now, it has sort of made my mind up of which route I am going to take.

The Road 2 on the back is coming to the end of its life, after an impressive 6,000 (ok, most of them through the winter).....The front is still reletively ok.  I was going to throw a set of Pures on it, so a trackday could be taken in as well...... But the thought of another rear change after 2,000 - 2,500 miles is just not economically viable anymore.  :no

Think I''m going to get a Pilot 3 for the rear and be done with it. The track time can wait for the few shackdown sessions on the racebike, and the two races in July and August.  :scooter

This is the first time I have PROPERLY started wincing at tyre bills and petrol costs. £20 to fill the feckin tank up on Saturday. And nearly £80 of juice used on Saturday and Sunday. I only went to feckin Cardiff, Terrys, Builth and Llandoverry.  Few years ago I could have got to fuckin Russia on £80!!!!! :taz

I know I've not been in to biking all that long but I have had a serious shock over the last few weeks.
I'm going through fuel like a fish does water using around £40 fuel a week (35mpg) plus money for weekend blasts.
Then there's servicing and tyres cost. I've done nearly 1k of miles in a month and so have decided to stop thinking about the costs of services and tyres etc...factor in insurance and it's scary amounts!

Having said all that it's significantly cheaper than owning a car and a bike and factoring all the above said costs. And would I go to just owning a car...I think not :tup2

It never used to be like this mate...... But to be honest, it has been rsisnt for years. I'll put me old duffas cap on now and remember Sunday spins would consist of £20 juice and a bit of cash for something to eat. Tyres were always around the £160 a pair mark.

Now a proper Sunday spin is up to the £50 region, and the tyres have all but put £100 on top of them....... It just aint funny, or more importantly, sustainable as I used to do it.  :thumb_down

Cheers Dave, that was in the ball park. £20 on top fitting and its £236. Plus the fact, I will rag one of them in 2,000 - 2,500 miles.  Im residing myself to the fact of sticking with the road 2's or road 3's and getting the milage out of them with the sacrifice of not doing a trackday on it..... Supose the racing will give me that fix this year.

Cheers Dave. but having a night thinking about shit. I think I'm going to go with the Road 3 on the rear with my original front. Guaranteed milage, and they aint let go in the past......... Can still push Pope on his hot poop Michy 1's, and get treble the milage  :popcorn

Just wont be able to do a trackday thats all..... No biggy. Plenty of track action coming up.  :scooter

Nice one for looking.  :tup2

I used to live next door to Trevor, Mark....

But I got to support my local mechanic who has looked after me for years. I know the tyres are a bit more expensive, but I can use the tyre fitting kit, and fit them myself.

I would not be able to put a figure on what I have saved on servicing costs over the years. So 10 or 20 quid on a set of tyres to support my mate is a no brainer really.
