An update on the boots!

I wore them on a stinking wet day recently and they leaked (that's leaked water in, not out :tt).

So I took them back and had a refund. Don't sell me something that says "100% waterproof" on the box when it isn't!!

Clothing should never be advertised at 100% water proof. There is always a hole it can enter through (arm, leg etc). All clothing can be water resistant. The best are those with membranes like gortex but, although breathable they still restrict air flow a little. You can use dubbing on boots but they will not breath and will need doing every time (1 reason for polishing shoes). The best waterproof and warm boot protectors I had was a couple of plastic bread bags.
but my right elbow got heavier

The maxwell gtx touring boots from hein gericke have yet to leak in pretty mental downpours.

I'm so impressed with all of my goretex kit.

Gloves have never failed, jacket too and my boots.

Only thing to let me down kit wise (though only in the mental rain we rode through this year on a rideout) was the crotch of my non goretex trousers.

I'd be hesitant to trust any other membrane now, having experienced the awesomeness of goretex.

mine today were fine, just got home now and its raining fairly hard, to be fair i cant see where on the box or on the advert it says 100% waterproof but regardless they are good spare boots or for those on a budget. I coat mine with polish and gt85 every week!

Well a quick update after yesterdays ride into cardiff at 2am for work, the rain was pretty mental and there was a lot of surface water. After the ride i took my boots off and my toes were slightly damp and along the outside length of my foot. Given the conditions i doubt many budget boots would have coped better, The only bad thing i can say is one of the screws holding in the armour has worked its way out and gone bye bye

Had Bulson touring boots for 3 1/2 years. Always stay dry nomatter what the rain is like and comfy enough to walk about in all day too.

Highly recommended !  :thumb_up
