Wye and Brecon Rideout suggestion. . ? ?
« on: August 10, 2011, 10:07:23 AM »
UPDATE  Ride out route further on this post if you wanna view it.  UPDATE            I was considering organising a  rideout  :scooter up through Ross on Wye, hereford and Brecon for a Sunday. Hereford to Brecon has nice free flowing sweeping roads along the way with  nice surfaces.   My son will be joining me as a pillion if anybody would like to carry a pillion.  I could organize meeting points between Port Talbot and Newport and people could break away or into smaller groups maybe from Brecon onto their best route home,  I would be heading across brecon common towards the Rhigos.   I would include a few nice places to Stop for a snack break or two and a lunch break  :feeding, not to many stops.  Any feedback on whether it is to long or if people would be interested or anything really please get in touch to let me know before I decide to start planning a route and stops and to learn it will be a no go.
Hope to get some feedback or suggestions.
To get a few  :group_hug bikes together would make it worth the organizing. I could contact somewhere, a pub or cafe, to let them know a party of us will be stopping for lunch so they can accomodate us.  (like my son wont eat Sunday lunch for example).
Please feel free to respond with anything you can think of.
Thanks for your time,
Ryan.

Ain't found any other write ups of the macmillan rideout beside mine yet.  It was the first me and Rhys have attended and Rhys is already asking when we are doing another one?   We ain't got anything to compare it to yet and are curious what people with more experience of rideouts thought of the day.

Yes, everyone else maybe melting to death on the roads but not us! Because we have a car with hair conditioner! I mean what in the name of sanity did they think we want it for? To make sure that the roof rack is more shiny and managable?

Sounds good. If my bike is back on the road by then I'd be up for tagging along. It won't start at the moment. All I know is it's not the battery, but my mechanical knowledge is zip so I'm going to try and get someone to have a look at it next weekend. Not got out on it as much as I'd have liked this year so I'm desperate to get out on it at the moment!!

I have considered riding up for that one blueracer.  the pontypool basin is further away from me than the actual rideout is organised for.  I was thinking to ride back brecon way when I leave ross-on-wye to refresh my memory for good places for stops if I was to organize a rideout but I will need to see if I have any response on my thread before I think about doing that.   I have to work a week in hand this week (again :banghead) and that macmillan ride finished my front tyre (to be honest I really pushed my luck going) and I am not sure if I can get a new one fitted in time.  If I can I'll be there but I will break away in ross-on-wye and head for hereford and back through brecon as I mentioned earlier.   One way up the M4 is enough.

Who cares how the crow flies,  not bikers.

I was looking for about 3 weeks time, so I'll get in touch to let you know when I put a route together.   I will pm you the link when I post the route looking for more interest.

I was thinking 1st or maybe 2nd sunday in September,  let you know when, if you're free maybe we could meet up.  Hopefully I'll get more response when I post actual dates and a route.  I will work on organizing a good riding route that will suit all classes of riders.

I will work on a route and decent places for stops this week and post it up.  Hope we can get a few of us to go along for the ride,  maybe if I put a good route together people will come along.

Depending on dates and stuff I've got on I might be interested. I get out around there quite often.

Distance doesn't worry me, anything up to 250 miles for a run is the norm. Did 200 miles today with a mate and 260 miles the other Saturday on my own.
