How to convince the wife
« on: December 06, 2011, 09:05:22 PM »
MMMMMM how do I convince the wife to let me get a second bike? currently have a Kawasaki vn900 cruiser which is great but I would like a differant style of bike to take out for bit of a blast now and then. Wife says I can change me bike for another one if I want  :taz she's missing the point I think  :thumb_down

been working on extra nice xmas pressies for her so fingers crossed  :thumbsup
any ideas that may swing the argument my way would be appreciated  :tup2

Will have to be an exceptionally out of this world type of present for her I think, and only then she might go along with your wishes lol Try offering to take over all the pressure of xmas, like cooking the dinner, washing up, seeing to the guests and all that, then she might give in  :thumbsup :rofl :rofl :nails :nails

And what lumberjack has suggested wont work  :rofl :rofl :rofl

I must be so lucky! I said to the Mrs I fancied a sportsbike and needed the Bandit to get to and from work and she said ok buy one! Found a cheapish one and with a multi bike policy the insurance isn't too bad, it gets a bike pricey come tyre time but I don't ride the Ninja that often so the tyres I fitted in August will last well enough.

You always go with "bikes are so cheap in the winter, if I bought another bike now then sold mine in the summer we'd save a load of money!"

Why not change for a multi purpose bike.
Triumph Tigger for instance. Oh .... I just happen to have one for sale.
Advertised it on Bike Trader & despite being very plain about scammers I have had my first one today. Said he was in Dublin, too busy to see bike but had to have it, he would pay me too much by bankers draft, & would collect by courier when draft had cleared , etc etc.
I told him to read advert carefully & the F!!!k off.

This was very crude attempt to scam but please beware of these people.

above all be open and honest - don;t get one behind her back and try and hide elsewhere  :tap :tap :tap

its needs to be a better option than using your current bike but above all it needs to be her idea.
so you plant the seed and leave it for a bit, then have a thinking out loud chat so that your not saying you want or are going to buy another buy but end up with the ok to do so and with all the lovely pressies and help your going to give at christmas you'll be a popular boy so that will help

it works for us, he following this system - I don;t let on I know what he's doing (sometimes I drag it out a bit) and he's happy to do any jobs I ask while in the creeping stage  :rofl :rofl our current bike count is 8  :eek :eek

does my bum look big in this.....

I 'had' to have a naked bike for when she was out on her bike as a sportsbike was crippling me at her speeds lol

I mentioned having another bike (as in not having one of my own for a number of years as I was riding taxpayers machinery) many times.

Eventually the Lunkette said one day "If you're having a new bike, I'm having a new gas cooker first." :innocent
