lack of rideout help needed.
« on: August 01, 2011, 03:54:24 PM »
I am very new to this site and have been looking for organized rideouts.  I am very shocked at how few rideouts there are, or are am I still in need of improving my navigation skills for this forum?

I don't wanna come across as a complainer, I just wanna know which of the above apply.

I am attending the Macmillan charity rideout on Sunday which I'm looking forward to and so is my 10yr old son.
Anyone wanna pm me details of any rideouts you think I might be interested in it would be most appreciated.
kind regards.
Ryan
Yes, everyone else maybe melting to death on the roads but not us! Because we have a car with hair conditioner! I mean what in the name of sanity did they think we want it for? To make sure that the roof rack is more shiny and managable?

I think you've already missed 2 or 3 from earlier this year, but there's 2 as far as I know organised by WB'ers in the next few weeks plus there's Hoggin the Bridge usually in October - your son will like that. Terry from SW superbikes does one occasionally - you need to check their website. Also Thunderroad used to do rideouts , check their website as well although I haven't heard of one for a while now. Hope this helps  :thumb_up

Organised rides can sometimes turn into coffee drinking excercises as opposed to actual riding. The run that Bean organised earlier in the year was spot on. Good brisk pace and not to much faffing about either.

Also on Welshbikers theres such a range of ages, riding experience, bike styles etc etc its difficult to gauge what people will want from a ride? Flatout point to point, gentle sight seeing or where the wind blows.

If you want to organise a ride somewhere Ryan then feel free as I know there will be a few who would tag along, me being one of them:thumbsup

Organised as is something like the AA ride out or as is a one member posting up & other joining them?

If it's the latter then this tends to happen most weekends.

Real big ride outs like the AA ride out takes time to organise so might not be arranged every month

I'm sure as others have said if your looking for a ride out then post up & others will join you :tup2

PS don't worry about complaining most members do it on WB :fishing

I've got a few mates that I go out riding with, don't like big groups as it gets too much hassle, best to find people you feel comfortable riding with and go from there

Firstly thanks to all of you for your replies, a helpful bunch.  I will check the links suggested and may well look into organizing something.  I like riding Brecon to Hereford and a stop in Ross-on-Wye before the tedious run of the M4 to get back to Maesteg, Maybe I could look at look at sorting out a scenic ride that way with the opportunity of a little naughtiness if desired.

Secondly, hi BadHarry, I live only 30 min from you and my son would love us to meet up with you and your son for a rideout. My son has spent a few hours at a time on the bike but is equally happy on short little runs.   He is a sociable little fella.  We are doing the Macmillan charity run from Newport on Sunday, I don't know if you are planning on going but if you are maybe could meet up at Cardiff west or somewhere and ride up together?  If not, I'm sure we can organize something in the next coming weeks.  Thanks for your reply and would be nice for us to meet up and for the boys to meet up with someone about their own age (he turns 11 on Sep 1st) to enjoy riding with.  pm me if you plan to do the Macmillan rideout or any plans for a date to ride on.  I will pm you when I plan a ride to see if you're available.  kind regards,  Ryan.

Can anybody tell me how to find my history in this forum?  I write a post and cannot navigate back to it.   I find it frustrating.
