Hi there everyone .

I have had a similar expirience a few years ago to this Mr Fuzzr .

As Muffy and The Ninja have said , Triumph are incorrect on that and i wouldnt bother with them anymore other than to give them in writing a " reasonable time "  to repair your bike.

Just write all the facts down  dont threaten or get personel , just tell them what you want them to do and give them a time frame  and send it recorded delivery to cover yourself.

In the meantime contact your local Consumer rights centre used to be trading standards  and give them all the info .

Its unfair to pay thousands of pounds and it to last only 2 0r 3 years , it should last a reasonable time and a court WILL rule in your favour especially with all the service history you have .

Is the bike clean and damage free to and that is sometimes a way out if they play silly buggers .

I hope you get back to them today and just inform them you have spoken to the consumer people and will be sending them a letter stating they are incorrect .

But please ring them as consumer rights will tell you exactly what to put in your letter and if you have a case to answer .

Good luck .

Well... Split th crank casings today. Had a prod around, and drew up a final parts list.  Went to order the parts expecting some of them not to be in stock, but all the parts should be here next week sometime.......................

EXCEPT

The 2 gudgeon pins I need for the other two pistons. The supplyer cannot get a date off Triumph for delivery, and there are none in stock at Triumph.............. Is it me being cynical, or is that a fuckin coincidence???  :scratch :handjob

Sounds to me that this might be more of a common problem than they are letting on, do you know any one in Triumph Owners Club.
Are you going to change all pistons and gudgeon pins?Hope you get it back on the road soon with all this good weather we're having.

Well...... I have got all the parts now except one set of shells for the new rod I had to order. I had to measure the crank and rod diameters to know what grade shell to get. So hopefully that will be here today or Monday, so I can start getting the motor back together. My debit card thought it had been raped when I put the final digit of my pin number in for the £798 bill!!!!!   :eek

....... But found this out today...

I am in contact with another person doing a rebuild in the US. His bike developed a rattle and he decided to take it apart for inspection.

I think I said somewhere else in this thread about the problems the race boys in the T3 challenge had when they were at Cadwell Park.  To cut a long story short. I was told, that when the bikes where wheelying over the Mountain, the engine was suffering oil starvation due the oil moving around the sump. The guy advised me to watch oil levels at all times.

The race teams combatted this by making a baffle for the sump, to keep the oil down.

Matey from the US has just got his gasket set, as have I (but I havnt opened mine yet)........... It transpires that the sump gasket in the set, is totally different from the one that was currently on the bike. Lo and behold, it incorperates some sort of baffle, that covers the sump....... I wonder if that is some sort of modification on Triumphs behalf, as possibly, they may have thought that there was some sort of problem with the originals??????

But no recall, and no admitance that there was a fault with oil starvation due to that problem?

So basically.............. The '06 and '07 Daytonas on the roads and tracks these days, that are ridden pretty hard, that havn't had the new sump gasket are basically a problem waiting to happen? Thats how I read into it anyway!! :handjob

I have informed my solicitor of this............ Hmmmmmmm, how can I put it.... Evidence. :2guns

Heres the 'new' sump gasket

Seems a bit of good news about the gasket,a modification on the old gasket seems like they new there was a problem.I'd keep at Triumph.
