Fuzz man excellently presented letter, I really hope that they can do something to help you, I think a positive part of it is that you didnt go guns blazing demanding a new engine you only asked for them to help with the parts cost at the most, the fact that your not being greedy should count for something as long as the geezer reading it at trump had a heart im sure youl get some help :thumbsup

Good luck brother :thumbsup

They wont supply just the parts for me to re-build. It has to be re-built by a Triumph dealer, or no deal..........

I could buy all the parts off a supplier and re-build it myself. But its gonna be mucho wonger!! The gasket set alone in near enough £270 !!!

mate of mine has read and looked at this and heres his 5 pence worth fuzzr

I've never seen a gudgeon pin fail like that before. In fact I've seen engines completely totalled with holes in the block you could put your head into and the gudgeon pin in the failed cylinder was still intact in every case.

1. Get the failed pin to someone who specializes in Failure Analysis (not NDT) and have them give an opinion if it failed in the mode of "High-cycle fatigue". If it did, have them find the spot where the crack started. It's just a case of looking for "road signs" and any FA expert will know what they are. Prove that the pin had an inherent defect in it and he's 90% home free.

2. The business about servicing outside the Triumph organization is BS. So long as the bike was serviced to the requirements of Triumph's manuals, even by a non-Triumph dealer, does not give Triumph the right to wiggle out of a goodwill settlement (bike's out of warranty).

I would most certainly do Point 1 before even contacting Triumph.

What a bunch of CUNTS !!!!!!!!!!!!!!  :taz

Dear Ian,
please find below a copy of the letter I recieved today from Mark at Triumph.....
John.

John,

Thank you for forwarding this information of behalf of Mr Phillips. Having carefully considered the situation I regret that we are unable to accede to the request for replacement parts.

Our goodwill policy applied to machines is assessed on a case by case basis and with customers having a full service history completed at a Triumph franchised dealer.

Regards
