Just resprayed my Fazer
« on: November 09, 2011, 01:56:51 PM »
Yo Campers

Bought fairing lowers on Fleabay cheap ('cos they were the wrong colour!)

Respray was called for and after 4 months work (not a painter by trade) I got this:-

Sorry about the shitty pics, had an oily finger smudge over camera lens!  :oops

Languna Seca 2005 colour scheme,  one of my favourites.   :tup2
The straight bars are a nice addition too.   :tup2
Yes, everyone else maybe melting to death on the roads but not us! Because we have a car with hair conditioner! I mean what in the name of sanity did they think we want it for? To make sure that the roof rack is more shiny and managable?

Bikes don't leak oil',.... they mark their territory :o)           Sometimes it takes a whole tankful of fuel before you can think straight. Growing old is manditory... but growing up...well that my friends...is OPTIONAL!

If you are planning to respray your motorcycle yourself, some things to bare in mind

Stages involved:-

Original mismatched colour look, the starting point :no

Step One - Everything white prime-erd (quite liked it looking like this but thought it woz a bit virginal / gay / Gibernau)  :nono

Gibernau's bike after being mindfucked by THE DOCTOR (46) I think Francisco in Spanish means "Ooooh, these boys are too fast for a simple country boy like me! :thumb_down (Just can't forget seeing Valentino tormenting him  (but I digress)

Step two - Yellow coat and half masked for black paint

Step three - all done in basecoat except seat unit - helmet done first as trial run

Shitty picture of end result

Advice to anyone planning a DIY respray

a)  Unless you have plenty of time to get it right have a pro do it for you (woz banned for a year so couldn't ride it any way)

b) Paint, lacquer and thinners only cost around £65, pro job around £650 minimum.
A decent compressor from Machine Mart around £200, spray gun from same £35, fineline masking tape £10

c) It will take more than twice as long as you expect unless you are a paint pro (therefore bike unrideable in the meantime) and as a consequence of same, you will forget how it all fits back together!

d) It's a one off - you will never go to Llandovery/Abergavenny caff and see one the same

Stroll on 17/12/2011 when I get my licence back!!  See you in Llandovery/Abergavenny

Love you all and you're my best mate you are  :tup2( 'cos I've just got back from the pub full of Stella)

That's such an iconic colour scheme, and I like the way you've set it up on the bike. Very nice, well done! :thumbsup
