I'll admit, I didn't stop when I saw a biker on the hard shoulder when I was in my car a few weeks ago. it was dark too, a lack of confidence more than anything I think. I'll try to make myself stop next time though, maybe his phone battery was dead, who knows?  :oops

yeah, I agree, `keep the faith`, and keep hoping, .. there may be some real bikers about ..
I have broken down twice (last year .. petrol out, and flat battery) .. and no bikers stopped though quite a few passed, some did not even glance ,, and I was pushing the bike!
lately it seems that comeraderie has gone, or deminished
yet one time, a young lad was passing with his family in a car and got me petrol from the garage and gave me a push too ..
yesterday I stopped to take one of my many fabulous photos for the great guys on here, when a gentleman in a classic car, pastel blue, pulled over, and said, through his handsome handlebar moustach, `you alright?` .. he had gone out of his way to check! thinking i may have broken down. wot a nice guy!
so their not all bad

also we have to admit that sometimes it is not convenient or possible to help another biker.
I must admit that one day I had gone out on the bike, no money, no mobile phone, dodgy battery and just enough petrol to get back home to mam, who I care for, and who had been waiting all day .. so when I say this guy pushing his bike over dead sheep mountain.. i didnt stop.. as i would have been more of a liability .. he would have ended up helping me! I knew a biker would be along soon

perhaps some people say `well i got the AA so so should you .. I dunno

but the good more than make up for the bad
the bad you expect
the good is a bonus

like nonameme said
keep the faith

I always stop no matter what i am riding/driving, recently stopped to help a guy broke down in Talgarth his front sprocket had ripped the splines in the engine, he had no phone or anything gave him my phone to ring and get help.
Helped redbull of here when his throttle cabled snapped, got his bike in my van and took him home.
Tried my best to help blademarco when he broke down on his way to Europe last year but due to it being a sunday was getting very hard to find someone to come out and sort his dilema.
I will help anyone in trouble but i do get a bit peed off when it is down to the rider not helping themselves with a tiny bit of maintenance, some things just happen and cant be avoided

If they're pushing, I'll stop. If they're sat there waiting, I won't.

The way I figure it, the guy who's pushing probably doesn't have his phone on him, ran out of petrol or magical battery juice.

The guy who's sat on the edge of the road waiting, has already called someone and is just waiting for them to arrive. :)

I ran out of fuel on my ninja while on the M4   :oops  Two bikes sailed passed didn't even look my way, the third one slowed right down and stuck his thumb out in an up and down motion, I stuck mine up as I'd called someone, I've no doubt he would have stopped if I'd stuck mine down.

I have to admit to riding passed a stranded biker myself, I was passing a car at the time and it was on a bend on the A4232 by the time I saw the bike it was too late to slow down never mind stop.  :thumb_down
