who gives a fuck it really

If you don't have insurance, a license, MOT or tax or a numberplate, then you're going to laugh off this latest law.

It's not aimed at the criminals, its aimed at taking the last bit of disposable cash off mr average hardworking law abider.

why don't we just give every penny we earn each week directly to the government.
Then we can beg for a bit back afterwards?

whats going to happen when this new law on having insurance when the vehicle is off the road.  It makes sense that when your bike is laid up you keep your insurance up.

But what about when you have more than one roadworthy bike, not everybody can afford to have cover for every bike, but will transfer insurance to another when needed

DVLA says that you will find yourself with a fine coming through the postbox if the vehicle registered in your name has no insurance (same as road tax).  Or will they take into account that if the vehicle is on SORN that will also cover insurance

The problem there is I will have some roadtax left on one bike, but I have transfered the insurance to another one. Oh bugger, bugger, happy days? :wheelchair

I've only heard of this law on forums... not seen anything official about it  :scratch - can you point me to any gov data so I can gen up?  :tup2

Stay insured: new penalties for motor vehicles without insurance

The new vehicle insurance law - don't be caught out

Stay insured - stay legal

Watch a video on the new rules on being insured and penalties you could face

    * Stay insured

In early 2011, the vehicle insurance law will change.

If you're the registered keeper of a vehicle, it must be insured at all times.

The only exceptions are:

    * if you have made a SORN (Statutory Off Road Notification) for the vehicle
    * vehicles that have been kept off-road since before SORN came into force on 31 January 1998 - unless they are brought back into use

The change in the law means that you won't be able to temporarily take a vehicle off the road and cancel your insurance, unless you make the vehicle SORN at the same time.

If you're not using your vehicle, you should make a SORN. If you are using it, it must be insured.
