insurance when vehicles are off the road
« on: January 22, 2011, 08:17:14 AM »
whats going to happen when this new law on having insurance when the vehicle is off the road.  It makes sense that when your bike is laid up you keep your insurance up.

But what about when you have more than one roadworthy bike, not everybody can afford to have cover for every bike, but will transfer insurance to another when needed

DVLA says that you will find yourself with a fine coming through the postbox if the vehicle registered in your name has no insurance (same as road tax).  Or will they take into account that if the vehicle is on SORN that will also cover insurance

The problem there is I will have some roadtax left on one bike, but I have transfered the insurance to another one. Oh bugger, bugger, happy days? :wheelchair
Its not the Destination its the Journey

Basicaly what they are saying is you cannot have a taxed vehicle that is not insured.

So when you sorn the vehicle you will lose one month tax as you always do and when you re'tex it you got to do a min of 6 months, with my little RD its a min of one year. so for the period over a year they will probably gain another months tax out of someone.

Imagen all the private sellers and also dealers. Cannot sell a vehicle as T&T now, makes it harder to sell things as alot of people private buy on evenings and weekeds as thats when they have time off work BUT the post office is closed so how do you tax it, not like there are many post offices left now.

Just another goverment scam to increase revenue, also what about older people or someone to busy to catch up on these new rules, fine through the post, more revenue.

If this was a private company trying a similar scam the FSA etc would be on to them but because its the goverment where just shafted one more time........

I can see why a few people who I know have emmergrated out of this country. RIPOFF BRITTON.

It's a sh*t state of affairs, as is life in the UK these days.

A democracy... methinks not!

What company's that with; I thought those multi-bike policy jobbies had been scrapped?

Would probably save me a bit on my stuff.

I've got a multi bike Insurance through Direct Choice.

There is also another company that alot of the clubs use is Footman James as they do modified bikes aswell.

Direct choice is an insurance brokers..i would never use an insurance brokers personally as they take a cut of your money befor the insurance company you are with even see's your cash. A quote from there page "Direct Choice is part of the Acromas Group which includes brands such as the AA and arranges insurance or breakdown cover for over six million customers."

Im sure anyone could arrange to be insured by the AA themselves direct without having to pay "Direct choice" aswell.

There was a few links on the Performance Bike forum and seemed genuine enough.
