it is true all the ins company will do is use the fact that its not taxed or mot'd to reduce or refuse your claim, you would get a fine and possibly points as well.

re the tax disc, why not get the previous keeper to post it on to you as its of no use to them anyway.

now that reminds me must fit the tax disc to the car today as well :-)

I don't know. A nice new tax disc showing 6 or 12 months ahead, is less likely to be closely looked at for the registration unless you get stopped. Then they could always argue, they put the tax disc in the wrong car.?

When I moved back from England, I forgot to change the V5 on my bike and my tax disc bought online went there.
DVLA tried to get it back, 'never seen it was the response' from the new occupant.

there has never been an official 14 day grace period,
2nd seems strange that a DVLA  camera van was there as they normaly dont come out till after the unofficial grace period because as a Traffic policeman friend  of mine said if you havent insured the vehicle by then you would be unlikely to
3rd to all those who think that the insurance is void if no tax or mot is shown on the vehicle i would like to ask how is it that you are LEGALY allowed to ride/drive a car /motorbike to a garage for pre-aranged mot
