A470 LLANIDLOES BY PASS

Watch out approaching the start of the Llanidloes by pass. PC Plod and friends with a hand held
hair drier will make an easy catch if you exeed 60 mph. They set up on the opposite side of the A470 to catch you coming from Llangurig, this is after the long bit of road past Cwmbellan.
They seem to be there weekends after noon to early evening.
I thought that hand held devices were no longer used due to the inacurate readings, they are now used on a fixed tripod, or is this a bit of miss information?

The ones on tripods could be ANPR devices. There is one who parks his bike under a bridge outside Llantwit Major and another I've seen on Caerphilly mountain, both with these devices!

I've spotted the one in Llantwit Major he hides under the bridge in the shade

If you're coming from Cardiff, turn right towards the burger van and follow road down the mountain, just as you come into the 30 zone, he's on trhe right. He's genrally facing the traffic coming up the mountain from the town!
