Triumph Street Triple
« on: October 20, 2010, 01:00:38 AM »
Bought mine a month after passing my test. After researching the interweb I was convinced the bike for me was a Suzuki SV650 naked and I bought one. Was persuaded by a friend to try the ST3 and I was converted immediately and changed. The SV being a V-twin was not the easiest to control around town. I was a new and inexperienced rider and every day I was doing impressions of a Kangaroo being in the wrong gear.

The ST3 is a totally different bike the engine is very flexible lots of low down torque like a twin but smooth like an in-line four. It will quite happily do 20mph in sixth gear and go on in the same gear to 143 top end. It is low, light, great riding position and handles like no other bike. Very comfortable and there's not much that will keep up with it or beat it in the twisty's if there is a decent rider on it. Cheap to insure, reliable, no quality issues, British and it is holding it's value like nothing else at the moment. It's not MCN's top bike for the last three years for nothing.

I was considering a change recently and the only two bikes I considered changing to was the Hayabusa or the ZZR1400 of the two the ZZR was the better bike, more comfortable not a slight on the Busa just my choice, I thought that when I got back on the ST3 I would be disappointed by the lack of power but no when a bike handles as well as the ST3 nothing puts a grin on your face like this bike.

If you have just passed your test or are experienced and looking for a change you have to test ride one of these before you make your mind up. I promise you you will not be disappointed.

My husband was looking at one yesterday and he's very tempted.  What do you think of it as a first bike, Bampy?

Quite low and light in weight. Easy bike to ride and bags of fun. Tell him to buy one,  he won't regret it! :scooter
