welsh weather
« on: June 12, 2011, 02:08:34 PM »
Hey everyone,

I am new to the world of sports bikes but mostly new to the world of biking in the rain, i used to ride abroad in the middle east where there is no rain haha

As i live on the peninsula you can imagine the changing conditions as with most of north wales and when the rain starts coming down i have no idea how much you have to back off cornering when its wet

at the moment im putting about half the force compared to when its dry, just being pretty cautious atm as id prefer to be on the bike rather than sliding along the road next to it haha!!

Not sure what you mean by 'back off cornering' - as in overall speed, or braking force, but best bet's to get the majority of your braking done BEFORE entering the corner... trailing the front's a risky policy when the road is saturated - AND to shift brake bias towards the rear.

Provided you settle things down in readiness for the bend,  your overall corner speed can still be reasonably high - s'all about keeping things smooth and staying as relaxed as poss on the bike. Sounds easy don't it... much more difficult in practice!

 :thumbsup
