Well done  :thumbsup

My advice would be ,save your money and buy a SV ,you may have passed your test but you still have a bit to go about learning to ride a faster bike ,been riding bikes for a good few years on and offroad and i'm still learning . Take your time and build up your speed gradually ,you will become a lot safer rider quicker and smoother very soon .

Have fun

I can take another "Mod2" test on a big bike now to ride anything, or wait the 2 years  :wheelchair

Just to put a dampener on this you have to do Mod 1 and Mod 2 on a bike of more than 45HP to be allowed a DAS license. The mod 2 part is easy but the Mod 1 can be tough.

I know you've ridden the old mans bike (naughty!) but as Snaffle said the restricted bike is plenty quick enough and just when you are getting bored of it you get to take the restrictor off and have what feels like a new bike again!

Little Gremlin as for the 2 part test it works quite well, you do all the slow control stuff in a flat, well surfaced yard and it cost £15 to do the test, if you mess up on a u turn or emergency stop then it hasn't cost the earth. I do agree though that passign a driving test is way too easy compared  to a bike test, that said you are a bit more secure inside a cage, doesn't stop 17yr old little Jonny in his mums Evo wiping out a biker because he's not got a clue what he's doing!

Hmm, it's very strange that my examiner said I only had to pass a mod2 to get a full license... I've yet to have that confirmed by anyone, looks like I'll be waiting for at least a while to be a full power rider  :weed

Still, I'm really looking forward to getting on a big 'un, even if it is restricted!

I might be having a look-see at this sometime: You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login

Any thoughts?  :thumbsup

And Little Gremlin, you may not be sure about 'electrical' bikes, well I'm afraid I'm the same about carbs! I suppose I don't know enough about them, having never driven a vehicle with carbuerettors myself, from a Punto to a DB9 to a Rover! :P I'm sure I could get used to them though  :tt I can't see your link, but I've seen a CBR 600F before, a very sexy looking beast!  :thumbsup

Their rapid for a 600 in fairness...

You wont go far wrong with almost any jap bike, they're generally solid and only brake if you brake it :)

My cousin had an SV and it was a lovely little ride, nice and torquey and nothing that's going to whip your neck out of shape wihtout warning. As someone else said, buy something, restrict it and ride it to get the feel and perhaps in a year, whip them out and feel like a new bike all over again - actually a good idea!

What ever you decide to do, do it safe coz this time of the year, car drivers seem even more unobservant to us bikers!

Always have your lights on, even if only a side light - I do :thumbsup

Success!! Me old man failed his Mod1 DAS today (No I'm not being mean, wait for it!) and he's finally said I can have his Bandit restricted so I can ride it!!  :thumbsup

And as another plus, until he passes he won't be able to ride it anyway, so it's all mine for now! tehehe. I guess this'll save me some pennies on a new bike right away, although by the time he passes I'm sure I'll either buy his bike off him or get myself a biggun'  :tt

The lights on both bikes in the house can't be turned off anyways, seems like a good safety feature to me, not that it doesn't stop nutters driving into/at me out there!! :sweat

So, I guess I know what this weekend's job is... Tax, insuring and restricting the beast!! (I do hope I remember to do at least two of these things... :drool) As a related issue, what's a 650 Bandit like restricted? Not as quick as a restricted SV I gather...?
