Hi Guys,
I am trying to put together a route for myself and a friend to head up through North Wales from Pontypool, possibly up as far as Llandudno.I`ve got some info together from Google maps but obviously there could/will be some nice roads that I don`t know about and wouldn`t want to miss.
Any advice/routes greatly appreciated thanks

I can get you as far as Caernarfon mate. I've done this a few times and a really nice way is to get to Talgarth then follow the A470 all the way up until you get to the A489 then go through Macynlleth and then on through Dollgellau. I think it turns back into the A470 at this point then head to Porthmadog and up through the B roads to Bedgellert and Llanberis. This takes you up through the Llanberis pass which is a cracker.

If you are using the A470 then turn off it at Llanidloes. Travel through the town to the mini roundabout ( there is a petrol station just on the right if you need fuel). Turn left at the roundabout and just after crossing the little stone bridge turn left. It will be signposted Staylittle. This road passes over the mountain where the Llyn Cleweddog Reservoir and Dam is. If you look on the map it rejoins the A470 at the village of Llanbrynmiar. As you emerge back on to the A470 there is a pub opposite and just a few yards up the road is a good cafe if you are looking for food.
The staylittle road cuts of a corner off the A470 and the start of the road is a bit like a roller coaster but better than Alton Towers! Also some great views over looking the lake and the Dam.
No matter which way you go, you'll enjoy it. You're spoilt for choice once you get up passed Rhayader.

Hi Guys,
Just a thanks again for all your advice, did the trip weekend just gone, had an absolute blast! Every road we took was amazing and was great fun even on the 125`s! Can only imagine how it must feel on a big bike. The roads, scenery and weather were all perfect. Pitched up on a site just before you reach Caernarfon, disposable barbie and a tinnie, cracking!
Loved every minute of it

Yes mate, did Llanberis, awesome! I pretty much stuck to the routes you guys gave me and every one was a winner. I`m in awe of it up there, couldn`t believe that all that was on my doorstep and I`d never ventured up there before
I don`t know how to top that now (being on `l`s) but we`l see.
Have a good one up to Scotland mate, I`l look forward to reading about it if you`re gonna post anything up
