Motorcycle license pass date??
« on: June 08, 2011, 01:21:58 AM »
Hi all, just a quick question

I passed my car test in 2008, passed my CBT (thus validating my provisional bike entitlement) in 2010, and hopefully will pass my full bike test soon in 2011. The question is this: What date do I give the insurance company as the date I had my license from? Because, naturally, putting in different dates affects the premium!!

As a test, I kept everything the same on a comparison website, using a 2010 Honda CG and put down my details as having passed CBT since 2010, and got £272.50 TPFT quoted. When I said that I obtained a full license since yesterday, the quote remained unchanged.

If I put down that I've had a provisional or a full license since 2008 the quote doesn't change then either, so what should I be saying?  :help

I'd ring them and ask which dates you should use. Don't give them any excuse to invalidate any claims you, hopefully, don't have to make.

They will ask if it is a full or provisional... you wont be able to get insurance on anything over a 125 with a provisional.  :tup2 Its bes to make sure you and they get it right if unsure ASK them... don't give them a reason to invalidate it.
Good luck with test  :thumbsup

I did try asking an advisor at my company Swinton, she didn't have a clue what I was on about  :shocked ah well, what did you guys use, the date you passed your car test or bike test, or got your provisional driving license validated at 17? :tank

Can't remember that far back, passed my bike test nearly 20yrs ago. I think there's a few on here doing tests that may have more useful info. Safest bet is to be honest and if necessary ask to speak to a manager/ supervisor and get names / dates of conversations just in case. Try a few other companies to see what they say.

:scratch depends what you are insuring .... your pass date for your full bike test if its over 33bhp ..or your pass date for a restricted lisence.. your provisional date if its on L plates

Awesome, makes sense to me.
What happens when my two-year restriction ends... Let's say it ended today, have I had my full license today or two years ago?  :tt Hehehe
