Mod2 bike standards??
« on: August 11, 2011, 03:18:51 AM »
Hi ive got my mod2 resit in Llandrindod wells coming up and plan to use my own bike this time. Can anyone advise me what the examiner will be looking for or is he likely to pull my bike apart to check it's roadworthy it got good mot an tax and the tyres r all good I've checked the web and it seems vague to me the term roadworthy my dust seals on my forks ave seen better days but don't  leak or weep what so ever is this likely to be an issue
Has anyone else here recently completed mod2in Llandrindod wells that could offer any tips cheers kris

i presume you mean dont Leak Oil onto the forks,
A road worthy bike means one that would pass a normal mot test ie lights, tyres, horn ,etc

If it has MOT and tyres are ok ..should be alright ?  lights, speedo, all working ect ?
Bikes don't leak oil',.... they mark their territory :o)           Sometimes it takes a whole tankful of fuel before you can think straight. Growing old is manditory... but growing up...well that my friends...is OPTIONAL!

They won't check the speedo but it will be obvious to the examiner if it isn't working and you end up doing 80 down Llandod High Street!

You will be asked two 'show me, tell me' questions at the start of the test and you can find these on line.  He will also ask a question about balance with a pillion passenger. Such as what effect would carrying a pillion have on the balance, stability or controls of the bike.  What advice would give a pillion who was going to ride with you for the first time, or what adjustments would you make to the bike in preparation for carrying a pillion.

The show me tell me questions are simple enough and they don't expect you to get your hands dirty.  i.e the question about adjusting the chain is a 'tell me'  not a show me!

So make sure your lights work etc.. If you have a bulb out he won't take you out and you lose your test fee.

All the best with it.

Yes, everyone else maybe melting to death on the roads but not us! Because we have a car with hair conditioner! I mean what in the name of sanity did they think we want it for? To make sure that the roof rack is more shiny and managable?

Ive got myself a T reg hornet but I've found the front brakes could do with uprating ie braided lines and sintered pads has anyone got any idea where the best place would be to take it and get the work done within a 30 mile radius of Brecon cheers kris
