I'd say find a quiet hill & practice

As they say practice makes perfect :tup2

On the techy side of things loads of revs little clutch

that way you won't stall & your bike won't buck on you :tup2

You do get used to the biting point of your own bike but every motorcycle is different

Hope this helps :tup2

Yeh, got the biting point sorted OK but when I'm sat at the lights in neutral say, holding the bike on the front brake to stop rolling back, then the lights change and I get in gear, try to get the biting point, give a little bit of throttle and release the brake, it all turns to ratshit :-)

Am I trying to do it right or what?

That's what's wrong you using the front brake try using the back brake & that will free up you hands for throttle & clutch use :tup2

I had the same issues at first as I was not taught correctly during my CBT as hill starts were not covered. I was doing the same with the front brake and it all went to shite same same....

I have since been taught at traffic lights always to be ready, i.e. in first gear and ready to go. Just give it enough revs find the bite point and ease off the rear break.

1st Gear, back brake, lots of revs, little bit of clutch, release the brake when the bike's nose starts to rise slightly (anyone ever get taught this when driving? A very nice way of putting it I think) as the Stig said.

Good luck!  :thumbsup

i was taught at lights and junctions if you have stopped fully then you always use the back brake as this leaves you both hands free incase you need to make a quick exit, also if you get rear ended you are less likely to go over the bars. i was also never taught to do a hill start during my CBT my first was actually on day 2 of DAS.

Did you do your CBT in Holland?  :rofl

As stated, practise is the key, always be ready 1st gear, left foot on the deck and right foot holding on the back brake, all will be good  :thumbsup
