Just got off phone with DVLA, they say they have no record of me ever passing my test, but they do have the letter on file that they sent me congratulating me and asking me to send my pass certificate off to have the categroy added to my licence  WTF?

They said I have to get a copy certificate from the test centre, 8 years of records  I hope they have a good filing system

I know what I have got,   when I had my really bad off on the motorway a few years ago, I was cautioned for dangerous driving by the fuzz.

I have a statement at home from them which has the box ticket saying that she did a P N C and all my documentation was in place including driving licence,   maybe that will help.

Looking at it i dont even have the provisional entitlement on it lol

contact the people you did your training with and they will tell you when you did your test , ring the test centre with the correct date and they will have a record of you and and the examiner who tested you , the examiner with have paperwork from that day in his records which will show you passing or failing (whichever it was lol)

you are quite fortunate that you passed relatively recently , i wouldnt want to be Davep asking them the trawl back 22 years lol

MM,

Copy a letter to your local MP in relation to this. If you can get them involved, the DVLA might be a little less obstructive.

Good luck :thumb_up

MM get in touch with the TV programme the Ferret...this is happening all the sodding time with DVLA at the moment, they are completely useless....

DVLA fuck up like this all the time..and you need your bike for work......

If you get stopped, the computer will show you as having no license...which will invalidate any insurance which means your bike will be seized and you will be left at the side of the road....and you will get a summons to go to court for no licence and no insurance.....

You need to get this sorted ASAP mate....
Get hold of all the relevant information you need, pass certs and anything from when you did your test, that way you can at least argue the point at the side of the road about the DVLA cock up........

BUT, if you get stopped and a name check is done with a driving licence check..you could be screwed mate :no

I'd do more than send the bill to the DVLA... I'd open the biggest can of whoop-ass on them possible. I don't tend to agree with this compo claim culture, but in this instance I'd be screaming for it from the roof as they put you in a hell of a position!

you are quite fortunate that you passed relatively recently , i wouldnt want to be Davep asking them the trawl back 22 years lol

It was only last year that I upgraded to a photo licence, no probs in fact I phoned the DVLA to mention that it didn't say when I was  to surrender my old one, and they told me to hang on to it until the new one arrived, whilst on the phone they checked and confirmed it had been processed and they also confirmed the entitlements that where on the new one and they got it right first time.

DHD it would meant them trawling back 29 years if they had mucked up, I also took a3 photocopies of my old licence, and had them signed as being an authentic copy of the original and the chap who signed it is the Security Team manager for the company I work for (who incidently works along DVLA, so I covered things and fortunatley I didnt need to use them
