Driving Licence
« on: February 01, 2010, 09:04:12 PM »
is it safe now to update your pic part of your Driving Licence now :scratch.

its time for me to do mine. there was something about this last year in m. c. n.

so whats it all about then.

i got this of a post that stu did .hope u do not mind lol.

yes ,be careful ,there are lots that have to resit their test, because the bike entitlement went missing,,,there was an article in the motorcycle news about it a couple of weeks ago,,, and they told you how to get around this happening,,, i can`t remember what they said,, but i`ll try and find the article,, maybe someone can help with this,,,i would recommend taking a photocopy of your licence before you send it off though,, as proof you passed your test

rudders misse works there, so ask her,, apparently you take your licence down to the office, get them to photocopy it and sign it as a genuine copy, and they give you the photocopied licence back,, and keep hold of this until your new licence shows up

Do what Fuzz said and say you lost it.

That way you have a spare

I know of too many horror stories of guys (not only bikers) but truck drivers etc who lost their entitlement and therefore sometimes even their jobs because of some numpty at the DVLA fucking things up!  :eek :eek :eek

Fuck that!

I did mine last month - no probs at all.
I photocopied everything before sending and enclosed a letter which specified that the licence was for a car and a bike  :thumbsup

This is how it works now a days

they send you a form saying your licence is up for renewal on that form you have the chance to send them new photos or give them the number off you electronic passport (you can tell if its an electronic one as its got a chip in it) and they will use the photo off your passport

it states on the form if you have two full months to run on your licence you can keep it until your new licence arrives and then destroy it

I know this because i have to renew my licence every three years  :thumb_up

Every 3 years,  is that because your an old bastard?

On a serious note, I am a bit worried I have just looked at my new licence and my bike category isnt on it, I aslo dont have my old one because I got a new one because I lost my old one.
