DAS Tomorrow
« on: August 07, 2011, 09:54:17 PM »
This time next week I'll either be booking bike viewings or crying into a beer.

I've got Day 1 of a week long intensive DAS course tomorrow.  Can't wait, haven't been this excited for years. Except for the CBT it's the first time I've ridden.

What tips do I need to know.  At the moment, I'm guessing it's something along the lines of 'Listen to what they tell you!'

You've got it! If you've never ridden before you are better off listening only to your instructor!!  I'll give you 2 bits of advice though!

1. Listen to your intructor!
2. Enjoy it, it's meant to be fun!!

Good luck!

dont overdo the lifesaver checks , you should only do them when you need to see what could cause you danger, regular mirror checks 8/10 seconds between them, take time at junctions make sure it is safe before you move off , it takes a lot to get  given a drver fault for undue hesitation .

Right, 3 days in to the weeklong course and all I can say is...

AAAARRRGGGHHHHHHH.  U-Turns.

It's got inside my head.  Turning round in a car park or when the instructor calls me over - fine, no problem.  Put me inside 2 rows of cones and I can barely get past 90 degrees.

Bloody thing.

I too struggled with that and still do!! Constant revs and control the bike on the clutch but it'll just fall into place when you least expect it, hopefully before your test!!

You got to look up to where you want to go .. not down at the cones or lines, (I know it sounds silly but),,,, look at the cones and you'll hit em  :thumbsup good luck hope it all goes ok
