Biker Nods
« on: July 27, 2010, 12:49:46 PM »
Having just read the rather entertaining 'nod etiquette' thread I wanted to say that I have been nodded at a few times and as a newbie it is really encouraging and there is great comfort in the camaraderie and belonging associated with biking, all of this is new to me and I am really appreciative of it..........so all you seasoned bikers out there keep the nods, kisses, thumbs up, etc. coming, they mean a great deal, even if I may be a bit too wobbly to return the greeting every time........XX

I felt just the same when I started out biking. Gives you a good "I've been accepted" feeling.

Andy.
The instructions said "Use Windows XP or greater" so I installed Linux!
A Life? Cool! Where can I download one of those?

Same here, was riding a 125 for a year to get some riding experience and the acknowledgements from other bikers was a massive encouragement.

I can't tell you how good it's makes a newbie feel when they are potching down the road on their 125 chicken chaser going flat out and a biker will slow down as they pass to give you  :thumb_up before shooting off into the distance.

It's marvellous - just wished I took up biking years ago!

Cheers,

Dylan

I completely agree with you Dylan, all the proper bikers look so impressive when you pootle along on a 125, but I have to learn properly before DAS.  I have been out doing slow control stuff at the industrial estate tonight and got some nods on the way, I am even beginning to be able to return them, what a great feeling!

A question for the experienced riders - I have noticed that HD riders tend not to acknowledge me, is it just me? (didn't think they knew me :rofl)

Cheers,

Dylan

It's not just you Dylan, it's a Harley thing it seems.

Cheers all.

At least it's not just me (thought I had a big newbie sign attached to my lid!!)    :rofl

I still have to nod anyway as I can't tell the diff between a HD and any other cruiser from a distance yet.

Cheers,

Dylan

Shaz, I apologise. (Take note Dylan, not all Harley riders are ignorant b&^%*s). I'll start nodding to all Harley riders from now on until I get a nod back. That way I'll recognise you. :thumbsup

Note taken, think I'll do the same, at least I will feel a warm glo of satisfaction.  The warmth might be coming from the engine mind  :thumbsup

Shazza - if you see a wobbly newbie attempting a nod  it's probably me!   :rofl

Cheers,

Dylan
